From April 1967 to May 1970, due to the "Cultural Revolution", a large number of cultural relics and historical materials were destroyed, and then they were forced to close and cancel. On May 1, 1975, the Honghu revolutionary history museum was restored and opened, but it worked together with the county cultural center and Exhibition Center. Two years later, the Qujiawan branch was restored. In February 1978, the museum was merged with the county exhibition hall, which was independent and subordinate to the County Cultural Bureau. The new building was completed in December 1984 and officially opened in October the following year. At this time, in view of the fact that all counties and cities in the old Soviet Area of Honghu have been preparing to build museums, the scope of work of the museum is correspondingly contracted in the county. In January 1988, Honghu county was removed from the county and built into a city. Under the Municipal Bureau of culture.
