Shanghai Yue Opera Theater

Shanghai Yueju Opera Theater is a famous national opera theater at home and abroad, which can be traced back to Xuesheng opera company, Yulan opera company and other Yueju opera companies in the period of the Republic of China. In April 1950, Xuesheng troupe and part of Yunhua troupe merged into East China Yueju experimental troupe. In March 1955, Shanghai Yue opera academy was officially established, based on the first group of East China Yue Opera experimental troupe and the second group of East China Yue Opera experimental troupe. Yuan Xuefen was the first president.

Introduction to theatre

Shanghai Yue Opera Theater is a famous national opera theater at home and abroad. Its predecessor, the state-owned East China Yueju experimental troupe, is composed of some members of the former Xuesheng troupe and Yunhua troupe. It was established in April 1950 and is subordinate to the Ministry of culture of the East China military and political Commission. In March 1951, after the troupe was incorporated into the East China Opera Research Institute, it absorbed the members of Dongshan Yue Art Society and became a troupe of East China Yue Opera experimental troupe. In early 1954, the Yueju Opera Troupe of the cultural and industrial troupe of the General Political Department of the Central Military Commission, which was joined by Yulan Opera Troupe, belonged to the East China Opera Research Institute and was named the second experimental troupe of East China Yueju Opera. In March 1955, the East China Opera Research Institute was closed down with the abolition of the East China Administrative Region. Shanghai Yue Opera Institute was established by two Yue opera troupes and some art cadres of the Institute. Ms. yuan Xuefen was the first president and is now the honorary president. Theatre overview

Guided by the principle of "letting a hundred flowers blossom and bringing forth the new through the old", the theater has made remarkable achievements in its efforts to produce people and play, inherit, innovate and develop the art of Yue opera, and meet the needs of people's cultural life. Over the years, nearly 400 traditional, historical and modern plays have been created, adapted and sorted out, and a large number of excellent plays have emerged, including Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, the romance of the west chamber, a dream of Red Mansions, Xianglinsao and other representative works. There are more than 50 films and TV series. Among them, Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, as the first color film shot in New China, won the "music film award" at the 8th International Film Festival held in karovy Valley, Czechoslovakia in 1954. A dream of Red Mansions was transplanted and adapted into a singing drama by the Korean National Art Theater. Many plays were performed in the first national opera viewing and performance conference and East China Opera viewing and performance In the conference, he won many awards such as repertory, director, performance, music composition, stage art and so on.

The theatre brings together many outstanding artists. In 1959 and 1960, the theater set up the men's and women's experimental troupe and the Youth Troupe, successively held the school hall, stage art and music composition training classes, trained a number of talents in performance, dance design, composition and accompaniment, and absorbed a number of graduates from Shanghai Academy of drama, resulting in a large number of rising stars. Among them are actors Shi Jihua, Liu Jue and Zhang Guohua; screenwriters Xue yunhuang and Wu zhaofen; Director Hu Yue; composer Su Jinzou; choreographer Yang Chuzhi, sun Zhixian and Zhu Liuzhuang.

In the late 1970s, the theater was rebuilt and new works were vigorously fostered, resulting in loyal soul song, March spring tide, Lu Xun in Guangzhou, empress Hanwen, Peacock Flying Southeast, story of Xiyuan, bleak Liao palace moon, blood stained deep palace, legend of lotus girl, soul broken Tongque terrace, Twelfth Night, revenge of the prince, Hosta There are a lot of good plays, such as the story of the emperor in law, the true and false emperor in law, the gentleman in the flower, the number one guard, Yang Naiwu and butterfly dream. Some of the plays won prizes in the national performances held by the Ministry of culture, and some won prizes in the drama festivals and art festivals held in Shanghai. Among them, "blood stained deep Palace" (formerly known as "deep palace resentment") won the fifth national excellent script creation award jointly held by the Ministry of culture and China Drama Association.

The theater now has more than 40 highly qualified editors, directors, musicians, artists and performers. The performing entities include the red chamber troupe, the men's and women's co acting troupe and the Youth Troupe (Preparatory) of women's Yueju Opera, bringing together Qian Huili, Shan Yangping, Huang Hui, Fang Yafen, Chen Ying, Zhang Ruihong, Hua Yiqing, Xu Jie, sun Zhijun, Wang Zhiping, Zhang Chenghao, Zhang hailing, Zhang Yongmei and a number of outstanding talents, as well as the high foot rookies, Yang Tingna, Wang Qing, Sheng Shuyang, Wu Qun, Zhang Yu who have emerged in recent years A group of outstanding new generation actors such as Li Li, sun Hongjiang, Zhu Lixi, Xie tongmiao, Zhang Yumei, Huang Yunying and so on.

Over the years, this art group has galloped on the stage at home and abroad. It has won the China Golden Record Award, the China Drama Plum Blossom award, the Chinese Ministry of culture Wenhua performance award, the Shanghai drama performance art Magnolia Award, and the Shanghai outstanding youth performance "top 10". Recently, "Stage Sisters" won the '98 Shanghai International Art Festival outstanding Drama Award, the 9th Mandarin New Drama Award and performance award; and "Meilong town" won the 7th China Drama Festival outstanding Drama Award. The new version of a dream of Red Mansions, which is customized for the Shanghai Grand Theater, is known as "a symbol of Shanghai's cultural style" and has won the "outstanding Drama Award" for the 50th anniversary of Shanghai's national day.

In 2001, the theater was entrusted by Wenhui Xinmin United Press Group. He created and rehearsed such dramas as "early spring in February", "kapok red", "save the wind and dust", "isolated spring", "Pearl Tower" and "home", and twice held the performance of "my favorite Shanghai Shaoxing opera rookie". Modern Yue Opera isolated spring won the gold medal of the 11th China Population Culture Award.

In line with the performance policy of "based in Shanghai, active in East China, going to the whole country, and opening up overseas", the theater successfully held a series of large-scale tour activities, such as "Shanghai Yueju Southern Tour" and "Shanghai Yueju western tour", so as to make Shanghai Yueju brand bigger and better, and enhance the competitiveness of the theater.

On December 30, 2011, Shanghai Yue opera academy was renamed as Shanghai Opera Art Center, Shanghai Yue Opera Art transmission and Learning Institute, which still uses its original name.

Main works

Over the years, the theatre has created, adapted and sorted out more than 300 traditional, historical and modern dramas, producing four representative works, Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai, the romance of the west chamber, a dream of Red Mansions and Xianglinsao. As the first color film made in New China, Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai was held in the Eighth International Film Festival in Czechoslovakia in 1954, Won the "music film award". Overseas Exchange

The theatre has entertained and performed for heads of state and government leaders of the Soviet Union, North Korea, Mongolia, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Albania, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal and Afghanistan. He is the first professional opera group to perform abroad after the founding of the people's Republic of China. He has successively performed in the German Democratic Republic, the Soviet Union, Vietnam, North Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, France, the United States, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and other countries, winning a high reputation and making contributions to the cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. In addition, he has performed in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan for many times and has been warmly welcomed by compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and overseas Chinese.
