Liu Bocheng Memorial Hall
Liu Bocheng memorial hall is located in Shengshan Park, Hanfeng street, Kaizhou District, Chongqing. The foundation was laid in December 1990, and the 100th anniversary of Liu Bocheng's birth was officially opened on December 4, 1992. Deng Xiaoping inscribed the name of "Liu Bocheng Memorial Hall".
The memorial hall of Comrade Liu Bocheng covers an area of 7.58 Mu and consists of the main hall and the East and west parts. The main exhibition hall is divided into two inner and outer courtyards. The inner courtyard is the exhibition hall of chenliebu, with six exhibition halls connected by corridors, and the outer courtyard has a painting and calligraphy hall. According to the historical track, the exhibition in the memorial hall is divided into six parts, which are "ambitious and heroic, saving the country from the army", "land revolution, repeatedly building miraculous achievements", "war of resistance, showing the power of God", "war of liberation, outstanding meritorious service", "founding fathers, casting a great cause again", "a generation of famous marshals, style for thousands of years". The exhibition line is 520 meters long, displaying 630 precious pictures, objects and documents 58 pieces, vividly represent Marshal Liu Bocheng's legendary life through the technology of sound and photoelectric.
In June 2009, it was rated as a national third level museum by the State Administration of cultural relics.
In December 2012, Comrade Liu Bocheng memorial hall was approved as a national AAAA scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration.
In December 2015, Liu Bocheng memorial hall was selected as one of the 30 best new tourist attractions in the Three Gorges.
In February 2020, in order to pay tribute to the medical workers who are struggling in the front line of anti epidemic, the memorial hall of Comrade Liu Bocheng (former residence) implemented the policy of free visit to all medical workers in the country from the date of resumption of operation to December 31, 2020.
Historical evolution
In 1984, with the approval of the general office of the CPC Central Committee and the former Sichuan provincial Party committee, the construction of Comrade Liu Bocheng memorial hall began.
In December 1990, the foundation of the memorial hall of Comrade Liu Bocheng was laid.
On December 4, 1992, the 100th anniversary of Liu Bocheng's birth was officially opened. Deng Xiaoping inscribed the name of "Liu Bocheng Memorial Hall".
In 2001, the renovation project of Comrade Liu Bocheng memorial hall was started after financing from various sources. 17.3 mu of land will be acquired for the renovation project, including a wall inscribed by Comrade Deng Xiaoping, a stele inscribed by Comrade Jiang Zemin and a square for Marshal Liu Bocheng.
In November 2002, the lighting project of Comrade Liu Bocheng memorial hall was completed.
At the end of November 2003, the renovation project of the memorial hall and the renovation project of exhibition layout were completed.
On the afternoon of July 28, 2012, when the "August 1" Army Day is approaching, Zhang Dejiang, then member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, vice premier of the State Council and Secretary of the Chongqing municipal Party committee, came to the memorial hall of Comrade Liu Bocheng and presented a flower basket to the bronze statue of Liu Bocheng.

Liu Bocheng Memorial Hall covers an area of 7.58 mu, with a main building area of 2343 square meters. There are 6 exhibition rooms (including 5 exhibition halls and 1 auxiliary weapon exhibition room), with a length of 520 meters. Standing in front of the memorial hall is a bronze statue of Marshal Liu Bocheng cast and presented by the Central Military Commission, with a total height of 6.1 meters (including 4.1 meters high) even with the base.
Bronze statue of Comrade Liu Bocheng
When Liu Bocheng Memorial Hall opened, the Central Military Commission presented a bronze statue of Liu Bocheng standing here (based on the photo taken by American journalist snow for Liu Bocheng after the red army arrived in Northern Shaanxi). Later, at the request of the people of Zhaojia Town, Liu Bocheng's hometown, the bronze statue presented by the Central Military Commission was moved to Liu Bocheng's former residence. This bronze statue was carefully designed by Zhang Yonghao, a famous sculptor and professor of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts in 2009, based on the statue of Liu Bocheng in the period of liberation. It shows the image of Marshal Liu Bocheng as a military God with millions of soldiers in his heart.
Meritorious column square
In order to commemorate Marshal Liu Bocheng's great achievements, the people of Kaizhou chose eight major events in Marshal Liu Bocheng's military career, eight meritorious pillars, eight marble pillars, strong and straight, pointing straight to the sky for people to look forward to. The meritorious pillars are respectively carved with white marble from revolutionary historical facts such as "bloody capital", "Lushun uprising", "Bayi storm", "Yihai alliance", "Weiwei Taihang", "Huaihai decisive battle", "Zhongshan storm" and "Jinling military school". The group sculptures feature numerous figures and are thought-provoking.

Lobby
In the middle of the preface hall is a half length bronze statue of Liu Bocheng in Marshal's uniform. On the left wall is a synthetic historical photo, which shows the famous historical scenes of "Nanchang Uprising" and "Zunyi Conference" during the land war. On the right is a picture of Taihang Mountain during the Anti Japanese war. On the positive side is a huge oil painting photo reflecting the war of annihilation of shuangduiji during the liberation war.
Exhibition hall 1
The first exhibition hall mainly displays the photos and materials recording Liu Bocheng's growth process and Liu Bocheng's participation in the revolution of 1911, protecting the country and protecting the law. On October 10, 1911, the revolution of 1911 broke out. Liu Bocheng was determined to join the army against the Qing Dynasty. With the ambition of "saving the people with a sword" in mind, he hiked across the mountains to Wanxian county and joined the anti Qing student army. At the age of 19, he began his military life.
Exhibition hall 2
The second exhibition hall mainly shows Liu Bocheng's deeds during the agrarian revolution. In 1926, Liu Bocheng joined the Communist Party, organized and led the Lushun uprising and took part in leading the Nanchang Uprising. After going to the Soviet Union for further study and returning home, he helped the Red Army to win the fourth anti "encirclement and suppression" campaign, and then made great contributions to the Long March, crossing Chishui four times and seizing Jinsha River skillfully.
Exhibition hall 3
The third exhibition hall shows the existing materials of Liu Bocheng in the war of resistance against Japan, the war of liberation and the major campaigns of the liberation of Southwest China. In the eight years of arduous Anti Japanese War, Liu Bocheng created new theories such as "organizing guerrilla groups" and "the enemy advancing and we retreating"; in a series of important battles in the war of liberation, especially the campaigns of Shangdang, pinghan, Huaihai and Dujiang, and in the campaign of liberation of Southwest China, he showed outstanding strategic vision and military talent.
Exhibition hall 4
The theme of exhibition hall 4 is Liu Bocheng's experience and contribution after the founding of the people's Republic of China. In 1950, Liu Bocheng volunteered to set up a military academy and trained a large number of high and intermediate commanders with both political integrity and ability for the PLA.
Exhibition hall 5
The fifth exhibition hall mainly shows Liu Bocheng's work and life after the founding of the people's Republic of China. In his work, Liu Bocheng went deep into practice, went deep into the masses, sought truth from facts, and insisted on the truth; in his life, he practiced self-discipline, self-respect and thrift, not only by himself, but also by his family members, children and friends.
Venue features
The memorial hall of Comrade Liu Bocheng is a modern antique building. It is connected with the city at the foot of the mountain is a stone fort ridge. The big stone ladder is beyond the city root, reaching the east side of the museum. It is 48 meters high and 8.1 meters wide, with a total of 240 steps. The stone ladder starts with a pair of Tang Style Stone Lions carved on both sides. The stone lions are designed by Professor Long Dehui of Sichuan Academy of fine arts. On the front is a large-scale mural "Ode to mountains and rivers" inlaid with red granite and black marble. The mural is designed by Professor Xia Peiyao of Sichuan Academy of fine arts and belongs to the supporting project of the memorial hall. It is divided into three levels: upper, middle and lower. From a distance, it is a picture of mountains and rivers of the motherland. From a close view, it has mutual independence. The work is the first example in the construction of stone terraces, fortresses and ridges at home and abroad. It is based on the great rivers and mountains of the motherland. The mountains, rocks and clouds, tall and straight pines, and the setting sun have profound implications.
Collection
Liu Bocheng's memorial hall displays 630 precious pictures, 358 physical objects and literature materials, vividly representing Marshal Liu Bocheng's legendary life by means of acousto-optic technology. Some museum experts commented: "among the more than 200 revolutionary memorial halls in China, the rich and precious objects of Comrade Liu Bocheng memorial hall are rare.".
Cultural Activity
The memorial hall and former residence of Comrade Liu Bocheng have a series of exhibitions of Comrade Liu Bocheng's life and achievements and activities of visiting and worshiping his former residence. Theme education activities are carried out for different audiences on major festivals and anniversaries such as Spring Festival, women's day, Tomb Sweeping Day, labor day, children's day, Party's birthday, army day, national day, new year's day and Liu Bocheng's birthday.
Honors
In June 2009, Comrade Liu Bocheng memorial hall was rated as a national third level museum by the State Administration of cultural relics.
