Guangzong Temple (Nansi scenic spot) is located in a valley at the West foot of Helan Mountain (in Alxa Left Banner, Alxa League, Inner Mongolia). It is composed of three parts: Nansi District, Zhanmao mountain and primeval forest district. Nansi district is the key area to play, and there is Guangzong temple, the largest temple in Alxa Left Banner. It is about 30 kilometers away from BAYANHOT Town, the seat of Alxa left banner government, and about 100 kilometers away from Yinchuan city of Ningxia Autonomous Region. At present, there is no direct bus in the scenic area, so tourists can only charter a car or drive to the scenic area by themselves (there is a minibus in the peak season, the ticket price is about 30 yuan, but sometimes it is cancelled, which is not very guaranteed).
Guangzong temple, Tibetan name "danjileng", local people are more used to call it: Nansi. It was built according to the will of the Sixth Dalai Lama, cangyang Gyatso. The temple is famous in the Mongolian and Tibetan religious circles for its body pagoda dedicated to the Sixth Dalai Lama. In the middle of the temple, there is a wooden board printed with the famous poem of cangyang Gyatso. Cangyang Gyatso, the Sixth Dalai Lama, is the controversial Dalai Lama. He wrote countless poems in his life, many of which were works of comfort. At the same time, he was the leader of Tibetan Buddhism and was respected by the Tibetan people.
Nansi temple was built in 1756. After the completion of the temple, the body of the Sixth Dalai Lama was invited from chaogetu hure Temple (Zhaohua Temple) and worshipped in the temple as the first generation of Gegen (living Buddha). In the 25th year of Qianlong reign (1760 AD), the Qing government granted the plaque of "Guangzong Temple" written in Mongolian, Han, Manchu and Tibetan characters. There are also rare cultural relics in the temple, such as the cloak of Gandan Chiba, the leader of Gelug Sect, the bell drill of Xuanzang, the eminent monk of Tang Dynasty, the five Buddha crown of the Sixth Dalai Lama, the silver pot given by the eighth Panchen Lama, and various seals. The area of the South Temple is not too large, visitors can walk.
Today's South Temple is composed of more than 20 buildings, but most of them were built in recent years. The main buildings are Daxiong hall, Dajing hall, Huanglou temple, etc. Among them, the main hall dedicated to the pagoda of the Sixth Dalai Lama's remains is called "Huanglou Temple". Huanglou temple is a two-story building, all of which are made of yellow and green glazed tiles. It is extremely rich. The body of the Sixth Dalai Lama in the pagoda is said to have been destroyed during the cultural revolution. Now there is only the relic of the Sixth Dalai Lama in it.
After visiting all the temples in the temple, visitors can go to the cliff on both sides of the temple gate to have a look. The cliff here is full of painted Buddha statues, which is the largest group of stone Buddha statues in Inner Mongolia. The Helan Mountain forest behind the temple is also worth visiting. There are very few tourists there. It is a very quiet place. Tourists who are interested can climb the mountain here and feel the natural scenery of Helan Mountain.
