The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel is located in the diamond section of Shanghai. The entrance and exit of Puxi is located in the north of Chenyi square on the Bund, near the Huangpu River. Pudong entrance is located on the southern side of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, facing the International Conference Center. It is the first river crossing pedestrian tunnel in China, connecting Puxi Bund tourist area and Pudong XiaoLuJiaZui new tourist area, forming the most beautiful scenic line in Shanghai's tourist landscape.

The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel opened on New Year's Day 2001. The person in charge of the management of the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel told reporters that as a tourist attraction in Shanghai, its average annual passenger flow is about 2 million person times, and the average daily passenger flow is about 5000 person times. Although many travel agencies regard it as the "transition" and "interlude" of visiting the Bund and Lujiazui scenic spots, most of the actual customers are individual tourists.
There is little difference between the number of tourists in the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel on weekends and in normal times. After entering the tunnel, a sightseeing car similar to a cableway and cable car appears in front of the tourists. Each car can take about 10 people, but generally there are only six or seven tourists in each car. There are few crowded scenes like subway cars. The sightseeing bus has just been driving for a long time. There are laser beams in the dark tunnel, which is a bit dazzling. Although the relevant commentary will be broadcast from time to time in the car horn, tourists often can't hear the commentary clearly. This tunnel is relatively narrow. At most, seven or eight people can stand side by side. The speed of the sightseeing bus is not fast, which is about the same as that of an ordinary bicycle. In about five minutes, the sightseeing bus will arrive at the exit of Lujiazui.

It's 50 yuan / person for a one-way sightseeing car and 70 yuan / person for a round trip. As a scenic spot, the ticket price is hard for tourists to accept. As a public transportation tool, the price is too high to be worth it. The second is the capacity, and the "shape" of the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel is relatively small.
Underwater construction is different from that on land. Given the "physique" of the tunnel, it is impossible to break the wall and expand its capacity. There were plans to transform the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel into a pedestrian passage. In this regard, Xu Daofang thinks that it is also not feasible, because when the sightseeing tunnel was built, the investment cost was very high, and the railway tracks, sightseeing vehicles and other equipment were all customized. Once they were "retired", there would be no place to use them in other places. Therefore, it would be too wasteful if the railway tracks were removed and replaced with pedestrian passageways.
There are 14 sightseeing buses in the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel, which operate from 8:00 to 22:00 every day. If the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel really wants to share the worries of the river crossing traffic during peak hours in the future, it obviously needs to increase the frequency. But if tourists can cross the river by subway, it only costs 3 yuan.
