Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum
Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum is located in the west of Nanhai No.1 Avenue, Jiangcheng District, Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province. It is the first underwater archaeological museum in China, with a total construction area of 17500 square meters, focusing on the excavation, protection, exhibition and research of the Song Dynasty ancient sunken ship Nanhai No.1.
Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum is mainly composed of "one museum and two centers" (Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum, maritime Silk Road Research Center and R & D center), with exhibition hall, Crystal Palace, collection warehouse and other facilities. The main cultural relics on display are the Song Dynasty trading ship "Nanhai I", which has been silent for more than 800 years, and the cultural relics found on it.

Historical evolution
In 1987, Guangzhou Salvage Bureau and British ocean exploration company accidentally found a Song Dynasty sunken ship in the sea area more than 30 nautical miles away from Hailing Island in Yangjiang City. When the ancient ship sailed out of China and went to Singapore, India and other Southeast Asian regions for overseas trade, it was in distress

From August 18 to September 26, 2009, archaeologists carried out the first stage of trial excavation of Nanhai I, and produced more than 200 pieces of porcelain from Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, Dehua, Fujian Province and Longquan, Zhejiang Province. In the future, trial excavation will be carried out one after another to show the sunken ship to the world as soon as possible. The main project of Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum has a base area of 12288 square meters, three stories high, and a total construction area of 19409 square meters. Value: by using the display cabinet and the top space of the exhibition area, the details of the interior of the space echo each other and show the shape of the ship together. The ship models are placed on the various ship type exhibition stands to highlight the ubiquitous theme of sails. In the exhibition hall, the structure of the ship type is displayed in the form of model and graphics, so that the audience can clearly and intuitively understand the structure and shipbuilding technology of ancient Chinese ships. The basic exhibition of Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum mainly displays dozens of cultural relics, including gold ornaments, Chinese ceramics and Song Dynasty lacquerware
. In 2019, the staff made phased achievements in clearing the cargo of "Nanhai I", and more than 180000 pieces of cultural relics were unearthed from the wreck

Venue features
Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum has distinctive architectural features and unique design creativity, closely linked to the theme of the sea, reflecting the soft and beautiful combination of marine culture and southern architectural style. The facade is composed of five ellipsoids of different sizes. The whole body is like undulating waves and spreading wings of seagulls. The building abandons the traditional beam structure and combines the keel structure of shipbuilding with the unique dry column building form in the south. It has a fresh and unique style and can be called the landmark building in China and even in the world
. The whole building uses three floors above the ground and one floor underground. The five arches contain the exhibition and office areas of the museum, with clear zoning. The largest ellipse in the middle is the home made for the sunken ship - "Crystal Palace". The two arches on the right are the cultural relics exhibition hall, which mainly displays the cultural relics recovered from Nanhai I. the two arches on the left are the office area, where scientific research, inventory, equipment and logistics systems are located.
