Twelve dragon pools

A waterfall in Beichen mountain. Twelve Longtan is located between the rocks of Tongan north mountain. Although it is not magnificent and thunderous, it is elegant and quiet. A clear spring falls down from the 500 meter high cliff layer by layer. After different heights of cracks, steps and caves, it forms twelve clear and bottomable pools, so it is called twelve Longtan.

A clear spring flows down from the 100 meter high cliff, passes through many stone steps and caves of different heights, and falls down layer upon layer, forming twelve clear pools, so it is called "Twelve dragon pools". Looking up at the waterfall from the "Pingtai", it looks like ginseng, so it is also called "ginseng waterfall".

Beichen mountain

Beishan Mountain, also known as Beichen mountain, is a branch of Niuling mountain range in Tong'an District. It lies in the north of Yincheng and is an excellent barrier. From the "Guangli Temple" at the foot of the mountain up 300 meters, you can get to the "Shuitian cave". Outside the cave, banyan shade blocks out the sun, mountains and rocks lean against each other, pines and cypresses are green, and the roar of waterfalls can be heard. Located between the rocks of Tongan north mountain, although it does not have the grand and powerful thunder style, it is elegant and quiet, with a clear spring falling down from the 500 meter high cliff layer by layer. After different heights of crack steps and caves, it has accumulated into twelve clear and bottomable pools, so it is called twelve dragon pools.

Twelve Longtan, due to the small fall of the waterfall, is like a string of silver beads. Looking up at the waterfall from the "Pingtai", it looks like ginseng, so it is also called "ginseng waterfall".

The pools vary in size, shape and depth, but they are all clear and pure. The fifth pool is the largest, with a surface diameter of more than 3 meters and a depth of about 2 meters. Standing between the eighth and ninth pools, you can look up at the gap. The waterfall is connected with the cloud sky above and the rock below. The water seems to fall from the cloud sky. The scenery is very magnificent! The word "Xianyuan" on the boulder on the left side of the waterfall is the authentic work of Zhu Xi, a master of Neo Confucianism in the Southern Song Dynasty. On both sides of the ridge there are many strange stones, such as tiger, cow, sheep, parrot and so on, as well as the footprints left by the immortals who came here to watch the waterfall and the fairy sedan chair they forgot to carry away.

Shuitian cave

Next to Shuitian cave, there is a flat rocky rock near the cliff, which is more than 50 meters higher than Longtan. The straight wall is like a chip. On the top of the rock, there are poems praising Tong'an county magistrate for praying for rain. In 1561, when there was a severe drought in the spring, Tan weiding, the magistrate of the county, called Pingtai and led the people to come here to pray for rain. The people of the city engraved "Pingtai Linyu" to commemorate it. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, Zhang Quan, the county magistrate, engraved the word "gaoze xiamin" beside it.

Longtan waterfall runs all the way through Zhuba, Wuxian, Shengmiao, Dongxi, and then into the sea, with a total length of about 20 Li. In the 1960s, a reservoir was built at the foot of Beishan Mountain to take over Longtan water, and a "farm for overseas Chinese" was built beside the reservoir. Overseas Chinese and Chinese from more than 10 countries and regions settled down here. Standing at the edge of Longtan mountain, looking down, the water and the sky are the same color, and the sky is empty. Zhuba reservoir is like a large flat mirror, which sets off the lush fertile field and shows the prosperity of the future!

Guangli Temple

The Guangli temple at the foot of the mountain, also known as "Beishan Prince Palace" and "Zhonghui Zunwang Temple", is the birthplace of the mutiny and opening of Fujian by the Five Dynasties king of Fujian. The plaque of "eight min ancestors" and "the first opening of Fujian" still hangs on the door of the temple.

In 1982, Guangli temple was rebuilt, and a mountain gate and a square were added. There were a lot of tourists who came to remember the achievements of "the ancestors of the eight min people" in opening up Xinjiang and benefiting the people.

Best travel time

On the east side of the cliff, there is the ink "Xianyuan" written by Zhu Xi of Song Dynasty, which is quite precious.

There are many hotels in the center of Tong'an town. It's cheap (about 150, standard room), safe and hygienic to stay in the nearby hotel~

In Tongan, of course, the most famous is Tongan fengrou. Of course, you can also eat all kinds of traditional snacks in Xiamen, such as Sha Cha Mian, rou Tan, etc
