Yancheng Museum
Yancheng Museum, founded in 1961, is a local comprehensive museum which studies and reflects the history of Yancheng. The museum is located at 118 Jianjun West Road, Taishan temple, the former site of the New Fourth Army's reconstruction military headquarters. It was moved in after the restoration of the "teaching building" in the former site of the reconstruction military headquarters in 2000. The affiliated Hu Gongshi calligraphy art museum is located in the old site of the museum at 80 Xicang Lane in the urban area.
Development history
Yancheng Museum, built in 1978, covers an area of 750 square meters. Its predecessor was Yancheng County Museum established in 1961. In 1983, it rose to the city museum. After nearly 40 years of development, especially the development of archaeological work, the collection of cultural relics has exceeded 10000 pieces, including 38 pieces of national first and second level cultural relics and 469 pieces of third level cultural relics.
Collection
The museum has a total collection of 18000 cultural relics and materials, most of which are representative historical relics in Yancheng area from Neolithic period to Ming and Qing Dynasties, and more than 4000 revolutionary relics reflecting the history of the revolutionary struggle in Yancheng area during the Anti Japanese War and the war of liberation.
Mr. Zhao Tailai, a British Chinese, has donated more than 800 cultural relics to Yancheng museum three times. For this purpose, our museum has set up Zhao Tailai cultural relics museum, whose name is inscribed by Mr. Wang Guangying. The famous Yancheng calligrapher Hu Gongshi's relatives donated more than 200 pieces of his works and materials to the museum, and established the "Hu Gongshi calligraphy art museum". Mr. Zhao Puchu inscribed the name of the museum.
The museum basically displays the five thousand year history of Yancheng: from Haitu to the city, Zhao Tailai's donation of cultural relics, Zhao Tailai's donation of religious cultural relics and Hu Gongshi's calligraphy.
There are more than 3800 pieces of modern revolutionary cultural relics in Yancheng Museum, including the file boxes, telephone racks, inkstones used by revolutionaries of the older generation such as Liu Shaoqi and Chen Yi in Yancheng; the relics of famous martyrs such as song Zefu, Cheng Bufeng and Zhao Jingzhi; and numerous notices, decrees, propaganda slogans, weapons and so on reflecting the local revolutionary history of Yancheng, all of which are traditional revolutionary teachings It's a precious object.
Organization setup
There are 19 staff members in the museum. The responsibility system of the curator is implemented. There are office, security section, exhibition department, storage department, Archaeology Department, cultural relics protection research office, Zhao Tailai cultural relics museum and Hu Gongshi calligraphy art museum.

Information on preferential treatment
1. Group tour for minors is free of charge.
2. Students can buy half a ticket with their student ID card
3. Soldiers in active service, retired personnel and disabled people can visit the site free of charge with relevant certificates.
4. If parents bring their minor children to visit the museum, they need to buy tickets. Minor children are free of charge
5. Relevant units need to contact us with a letter of introduction three days in advance to make proper arrangements.
