During the an Shi rebellion, the rebel general Yin Ziqi led 130000 troops to besiege Suiyang, and Zhang Xun, who guarded Ningling, led his troops to reinforce. When Zhang Xun was in danger, he shared a common hatred with the soldiers and fought to the death with the enemy. He used his army like a God and won many battles. He broke the enemy's goose cart to attack the city. He also used clever tactics to grab food with the enemy. After that, he burned the enemy's firewood road and used straw men to borrow 100000 arrows to inflict heavy damage on the enemy. Unfortunately, he died in the end because there was no backup, but he made immortal contributions to quell the rebellion and protect the people of Jianghuai. In order to meet the desire of people at home and abroad to cherish and sacrifice Zhang Xun, and to carry forward the spirit of patriotism, Zhang Xun temple was rebuilt in 1990. The new temple covers an area of 40700 square meters, including square area, building area and tomb garden area. The whole ancestral hall is magnificent and solemn. Over the past 10 years, Taiwan compatriots have organized many groups to pay homage to Zhang Xun temple in Shangqiu and cherish the memory of their heroes.

Suiyang in the Tang Dynasty was an important road leading to Jianghuai. In 757 A.D., in order to get through Suiyang and go south to Jianghuai, the rebellion of an Shi sent general Yin Ziqi to capture Suiyang with 130000 troops. About Zhang Xun
Zhang Xun (709-757) was born in Henan Province. He was the third Jinshi in the late Kaiyuan period of Xuanzong. In the first month of the second year of the Tang Dynasty (757 AD), the Anshi rebellion led by Yin Ziqi attacked Suiyang city. At that time, Suiyang city was a traffic fortress between the North and the South and a military throat. The rebels attempted to level Suiyang and seize the rich land of Jianghuai. At this critical moment, Zhang Xun emerged, He led only 6800 generals to resist 130000 rebels and launched a world shaking, ghost crying Suiyang defense city.
