Shuilu temple, formerly known as Shuilu temple, is located at the foot of Wangshun mountain, Puhua Town, 10 kilometers east of Lantian County. It is an ancient temple of Six Dynasties and a national key cultural relic protection unit. It is famous for preserving ancient exquisite and rare colored sculptures and is known as "the second Dunhuang in China". It is the largest preserved wall plastic group in China. The wall sculpture group integrates painting, round carving, relief and floor carving. On the walls, beams and columns, there are more than 3700 statues of people and all things in nature. Shuilu nunnery is located at the end of a small island shaped like a sleeping fish. It is surrounded by water on three sides and looks like an isolated island. The emperor has green mountains and the river circulates around it, so it is called Shuilu nunnery. According to records, today's Shuilu nunnery was originally the Shuilu temple in putuolan nunnery in the north of WuZhenYu in ancient times. After the nunnery was destroyed, people called it Shuilu nunnery. According to the records of Lantian County annals and steles, Shuilu temple is an ancient temple in the Six Dynasties. In the Tang Dynasty, it formed a Buddhist Temple group with shangwuzhen temple and xiawuzhen temple. It was rebuilt many times in the Five Dynasties, song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Shuilu nunnery is a small-scale courtyard with five mountain gates in front, 13 wing rooms on both sides of the north and the south, three middle halls in the courtyard and five main halls in the West. It is a complete Buddhist temple, and the whole courtyard is quiet and simple. Colored mud wall molding is the essence of Shui Lu nun. The wall sculpture, also known as "hidden sculpture" or "shadow wall", is an art form of combining Chinese painting and wall carving. It takes landscape and flowers as the theme, and applies color to form a special style of combining round sculpture and relief sculpture.
