Yangzhu temple is located in Zhifu Island, Yantai City, Shandong Province. It is said that when four women went to the seaside at night, they saw a man carved with stone pushed to the shore by the waves. The stone man's name was Yangzhu. One of the women took the Lord back home. A few days later, the woman died strangely.

It is said that the woman went to the underworld and became the wife of the Yang Lord. To commemorate this event, local people built the Yangzhu temple. The buildings are surrounded by pines, cypresses and ancient pagodas, and the environment is elegant and beautiful. The main hall is dedicated to the stone statue of the great emperor of the Liang Dynasty (Yangzhu), which is carved from the huge stone exposed here. Yangzhu temple is one of the oldest temples recorded in Chinese history. Only the broken wall remains.

In the coastal area of Lunan, there are tombs of the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period.

According to historical records, Qin Shihuang visited the island twice in the 28th year (219 B.C.) and 29th year. The stone inscriptions were separated at two ends, commonly known as "Liangguan" stone inscriptions. The stone has fallen into the sea for a long time. Today, there are still 14 characters of rubbings preserved locally.

In the 37th year of the first emperor, he sent Xu Fu from Langya to the sea to collect medicine and shoot giant fish. Now the site of sheyutai still exists. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty also visited the island during his tour to the East.

Layout of Yangzhu Temple

Yangzhu temple has four courtyards and 36 rooms, which are arranged in the shape of "Gong". The building is very spectacular. In front of the temple gate are two high flagpoles. When it comes to the temple fair, the long apricot yellow flag floats with the wind, adding a mysterious color to the ancient temple.

On the door of the Zhuqi temple, there are eight regular script characters of "Lingzhu mountain" and "Enqin Huanhai". The mountain gate is tall and Cui Wei. There are two generals in the East and West gates, commonly known as "general Lama".

Through the mountain gate is the second courtyard. There is a bell and Drum Tower in the East and West, each of which weighs about one or two thousand jin.

In the third courtyard, the main hall is dedicated to the stone statue of the Yang Lord, the great emperor of Liang. It is said that the king of Liang was the God of flood, drought and pestilence. He was dressed in red dragon clothes, holding a jade pen, with a dignified and thoughtful look.

He was surrounded by four generals, armed with different kinds of weapons, with a powerful and daunting look.

There is a chaperone hall on both sides of the main hall, which is dedicated to the empress and queen mother.

The East corridor and the west corridor are statues of the ten emperors. The ten emperors have different shapes, among which the five halls are the most ferocious. There is a closed corridor from the main hall to the back hall. In the corridor, there is a small boat with exquisite carving. The small one speaks with a ruler, the big one is full of Zhang. On the pink walls on both sides are poems written by celebrities.

The back hall is in the fourth courtyard, where four grandmothers are worshiped. They are full-bodied, beautiful and kind-hearted. They are all the wives of the Lord Yang.

It is said that in ancient times, four girls rushed to the sea and found a pure stone man.

When they passed Yangzhu temple at home, they couldn't carry the stone man any more, so they began to make trouble in front of the temple.

They throw baskets at the stone man's head and neck, and say that whoever hits is the stone man's wife. Unfortunately, all four girls hit.

That night, the four girls dreamed that the stone man would marry them. Later, the four girls died on the same day.

Later generations made statues of the four girls. According to textual research, the statue of Yang Zhu is indeed carved with huge stones pulled up from the ground. The stone statue is now kept in the city museum.
