The Museum of Xizhou Yandu site is a historical and cultural museum combining ancient cultural sites with cultural relics display, which belongs to Beijing Municipal Bureau of cultural relics.
The museum is located in the east of dongjialin village, Liulihe Town, Fangshan District, Beijing. It is located outside the east wall of the Yandu site of the Western Zhou Dynasty. The Museum covers an area of 18000 square meters, and the building area of the exhibition hall is 3000 square meters. It began to be built in 1990 and officially opened to the outside world on August 21, 1995.
There are hundreds of cultural relics on display in the museum, including bronzes, ceramics, jade, lacquer wood and oracle bones, especially the four tombs and chariot pits preserved in the original site.
Development history
In 1990, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of cultural relics began to prepare for the construction of the Shang Zhou site museum.
In May 1993, Beijing Municipal Bureau of cultural relics studied the exhibition contents and the decoration design of the exhibition room of the museum. The meeting decided that the exhibition contents of the museum should be compiled by Beijing Institute of cultural relics, and the exhibition design and construction of exhibition room decoration should be implemented by Mr. Fei Qinsheng, a researcher of exhibition design of Shanghai Museum.
In August 1995, the museum was officially opened to the public and changed its name to Yandu Site Museum of Western Zhou Dynasty in Beijing

In November 1999, the museum checked and checked the exhibits in the museum, and established and improved the accounting books and retrieval cards of cultural relics, replicas and models.
In November 2001, it successfully passed the evaluation of scenic spot quality grade "a"

In April 2008, it was awarded the first batch of Beijing popular science education bases.
In May 2009, the State Administration of cultural relics issued the decision of the State Administration of cultural relics on publishing the list of national second and third level museums, and the museum was designated as the national third level museum

Exhibition
Permanent exhibition
In 1995, the museum displayed "splendid ancient Yandu culture", which outlines the prosperity of the ancient capital of Yan through a large number of unearthed artifacts and tombs. In September 2007, the exhibition hall of the museum was reconstructed and rearranged. The new exhibition "the origin of the city of Beijing" centers on the exhibition of the ancient city of Yandu and the burial area. It traces back to the cultural origin of the city of Beijing and interprets the far-reaching influence of Yandu on the development of the city of Beijing in the past 800 years. The exhibition absorbed the latest academic research achievements of the academic circles, and adopted the means of phantom imaging and other multimedia display. The whole exhibition is divided into five units: Beijing's physical geography and cultural traditions, the ancient city of Yandu in the Western Zhou Dynasty, the tombs of the nobility in Yandu, the exquisite cultural relics in Yandu, and the changes of the five capitals of Yanguo. Temporary Exhibition
The museum has completed the following works: the story of the state of Yan behind the bronze ware in Northern Xinjiang, the innovative wisdom exhibition of pottery unearthed in Yandi, the bronze exhibition of Fangshan wenbaosuo, looking back at the state of Yan, the civilization made by copper, the chariots and horses carrying history, approaching the agriculture of pre Qin Dynasty, the origin of Beijing city and ancient capital of China, Chinese ancient pottery culture, and the style of the state of Yan "Cloud" and other popular science exhibitions. These exhibitions have been displayed in surrounding schools and communities.

Tour activities
On December 26, 2011, the exhibition of "the storm of Yan state" in the Western Zhou Museum entered Jingnan home community for the first time, and also opened the prelude of the story telling activity of Yan state.
Many of the stories that happened in the state of Yan, such as the warlord drama, Jingke assassinating the king of Qin, are familiar to everyone. Through the allusions, idioms, cultural relics and other knowledge of the Western Zhou Dynasty, the wind and cloud of the state of Yan interprets the political system, ethnic relations, cultural connotation and people's life at that time of the state of Yan in the Western Zhou Dynasty.

The museum is a square building with a symmetrical quadrangle layout. The center is covered with five groups (one high and four low) of four corner pointed roofs with brown red color. The shape of the museum is "five rooms", "heavy rooms" and "four sides". The exhibition rooms are single-layer, with flat roof and tile eaves And wall effect to set off the main body of the center.
According to the system of the Zhou Dynasty, a screen screen was set on the opposite side of the prelude hall, which was inlaid with marble and engraved with the name of the museum inscribed by Mr. Su Bingqi. At the entrance of the gate, stone columns and brackets were set, and relief ornaments with Taotie, kuilong and other motifs were used as "symbols"

The museum is a patriotic education base, popular science base, youth social classroom resource unit and off campus education base. Every year, it carries out different forms of publicity activities with many schools nearby. For example, the activity of "voluntary commentator of Xizhou Museum" has been successfully held for seven years. Every year, students from different schools and ages participate in the activity, and the benefits are great. "Archaeological interest group" has been established in Yanhua Xingcheng middle school for five years, and has absorbed 160 members in total

Bus: take 835 or 834 from Tianqiao, and get off at Shang and Zhou ruins station. After getting off, walk 1.5 kilometers along the entrance of dongjialin village.
Self driving: take the Beijing Hong Kong Macao expressway, get off the Doudian exit, drive 3 km along national highway 107, and turn left into dongjialin village.
Admission: show your valid certificate, register at the entrance and deposit your bag for free. Group visit must be made three days in advance. Please follow the guidance of the staff and visit in an orderly manner.
