Baicaopan natural scenic area covers an area of 19.2 square kilometers, with a forest coverage rate of 82%. The lowest altitude is more than 800 meters higher than the urban area. With fresh air, beautiful environment, cool and pleasant climate, the temperature in summer is 8-16 degrees lower than that in the urban area of Beijing. It is a good place for tourism and vacation in hot summer. Baicaopan natural scenic spot is known as the green pearl in Taihang Mountain. Baicaopan is the best place to view the sea of clouds, sunrise, sunset, flowers and scenery.

Main attractions

The scenic spot is located in the south-west wing of Baihua peak syncline. The strata exposed in the area include Neoproterozoic, Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic. The overall planning area is 19.1 square kilometers, including 7 scenic spots and 106 landscapes, including baicaopan, Kunpeng gorge, bailixiang Valley, Songlin Yuancheng, laodaodong, Longgu stone hall, Xinglin garden, etc. There are also eight views on the mountain and eight views under the mountain. The eight sceneries on the mountain are lilac springs, pavilions enjoying the moon, the morning light at the top of the pole, the five fingered peaks, the sea of clouds, the lights in the capital, the ancient cypresses of thousand years, and the grasses in Gaoping. There are eight scenic spots at the foot of the mountain, such as angry stone falling from the sky, Songhai and Lintao, ant mound, prehistoric relics, Kunpeng spreading his wings, Shendong fairy Road, Songlin Yuancheng, mother and son worshiping the dragon. The main peak of baicaopan is 2161m above sea level. It is the first peak in southwest Beijing and the third peak in Beijing. It is known as the "first peak of car traffic in southwest Beijing" because it can drive directly to the top of the mountain. The largest natural garden in the suburb of Beijing, subalpine meadow, has a variety of flowers, high plant coverage and rich oxygen content. In addition, the unique mountain climate features make the temperature of the scenic spot lower than that of the urban area Therefore, it is also known as "cool world natural oxygen bar". It was officially opened to the outside world in June 1999. The unique mountains, the sea of clouds, the ant mound and the pine forest can be called the "four wonders" of the scenic spot. Bus route: the scenic spot is close to national highway 108, 120 km away from Liuli bridge. Take bus no.917 from Tianqiao or Liuli bridge to Fangshan, and then take a minibus to Simatai village. Every Saturday and Sunday, bus 917 goes directly to Simatai village.
