Jinmen sluice was founded in 1701, the 40th year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty. It was originally a grass sluice. Its function was to lead the water of mangniu River into Yongding River to clean and muddy. Later, due to the siltation at the bottom of the river, which was higher than that of mangniu River, the original sluice was abandoned. Later, in the third year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1738), the water reducing stone dam was moved to its present position, and its name still uses the old name. The Yongding River is turbulent, carrying sand. The sand silts the river high, and the river is under a high dam. Therefore, it must be repaired in several years. During this period, major repairs were carried out in the 38th year of Qianlong (1773), the 4th year of Daoguang (1824) and the 11th year of tongzhi (1872). However, the Jinmen sluice rebuilt in 1909, the first year of Xuantong, was abandoned and built into a stone dam. 170 years later, it was restored and preserved to this day.

The origin of creation
Later, due to the siltation at the bottom of the river, which was higher than that of mangniu River, the original sluice was abandoned. Scale and value
The gate is 15 square meters long and 100.6 meters long. In 1937, the two air spaces at the south end were changed into iron gates for farmland irrigation, and the rest of the air spaces were abandoned.
In ancient times, this sluice played an important role in protecting people's life and property on both sides of Yongding River. It is the crystallization of wisdom of ancient water conservancy engineers and technicians. Today, although the gate is abandoned, the old traces still exist. Its magnificent momentum and excellent construction are enough to reflect its scientific value and historical value.
