Yuhuangge is located at the intersection of Jiefang East Street and Yuhuangge South Street and North Street in Xingqing District of Yinchuan. It was built in Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty, and has a history of more than 600 years. It is a traditional large roof building with compact structure and exquisite traditional wood structure with double towers and eaves. Because the statue of the Jade Emperor was cast inside, it was called the Jade Emperor Pavilion.
Yuhuangge is the only ancient wooden high-rise building in Yinchuan city. Its unique architectural style and superb architectural skills fully reflect the exquisite skills of ancient craftsmen in Yinchuan. Now, Yuhuangge is a cultural relic protection unit in Ningxia. Small exhibitions of fine arts, calligraphy and cultural relics are often held on it. It is one of the open tourist attractions in Yinchuan city.
Yinchuan Yuhuang Pavilion
Yuhuangge is located at the intersection of Jiefang East Street and Yuhuangge South and North Street in Xingqing District of Yinchuan.
There is no way to find out when this pavilion was first built. According to the Fu Cheng map of Hongzhi Ningxia Xinzhi of Ming Dynasty, the location of Yuhuang Pavilion is the location of Drum Tower in Fu Cheng of Ming Dynasty. Qing Qianlong three years (1739) destroyed by the earthquake, rebuilt, known as the "Yuhuangge.". Qing Qianlong "Yinchuan Chronicles" contains: "extremely Chonghuan Xuan open, Shanggong Zhenwu emperor." After that, it was called Yuhuangge.
Yuhuangge is 22 meters high and covers an area of about 1040 square meters. Under a pedestal 36 meters long, 28 meters wide and 8 meters high, there is a north-south arched door opening in the middle. There are stone steps on the outside of the northwest side to mount the platform. In the center of the pedestal is the two-story Xieshan hall with double eaves, which is 14.1 meters high. The hall is 5 rooms wide and 2 rooms deep. There are 5 coupons shed halls in the south of the ground floor, and a beautiful coupons shed building in the middle. On the East and west sides of the hall are two-story Pavilion style bell and drum towers with double eaves and flying ridges. From the inside of the main hall on the ground floor to the top floor, there is a spacious hall on the ground floor. The outside of the hall is connected by an ambulatory and surrounded by red lacquer railings. You can look around by the railings. The whole building complex is composed of double towers and pavilions, with flying eaves, ingenious layout and rigorous structure.
