Kegongfang
Kegong square was built in Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty for the Yang family's "one gate, three examinations". It was destroyed in a fire on the third day of the first month of 1944. Three years later, the last Jinshi in Kegong square and the 60th anniversary of gengjizhong Jinshi were on the big day. Villagers rebuilt the Kegong square on the burned site and upgraded it to three floors, which has been handed down to the present day.
Development history
Walking into the old town of Lijiang, near Sifang street, on the bar street, there is a humble three storey building, which is Kegong square. Speaking of this Kegong square, it has a bright future. It embodies the Naxi people's advocating and learning spirit.
Kegong square in Lijiang ancient city was built in the reign of Daoguang in Qing Dynasty, which was built for the "one gate, three lifts" of the Yang family. In 1723, Lijiang carried out the policy of "returning the native land to Liu", which changed from the hereditary rule of the former Chieftain to the rule of the officials appointed by the central government with a certain term of office. Since then, Lijiang entered the feudal society, and the social system reform greatly stimulated the folk children's enthusiasm for reading.
In the 180 years from the reform of the local government to the abolition of the imperial examination in the late Qing Dynasty, there were more than 60 Juren and seven Jinshi in Lijiang. During the reign of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, two brothers, Yang Zhaolan and Yang Zhaorong, who lived in kegongfang, were both elected. Then during the reign of Daoguang, Yang shuochen, Yang Zhaorong's son, was elected again. So the government and the people donated money to build a high-rise kegongfang at the entrance of the alley.
Three years later, when the 60th anniversary of the last Jinshi and gengjizhong Jinshi in kegongfang was celebrated, the villagers rebuilt kegongfang on the burned site and upgraded it to three floors, which has been handed down to the present day.
