Qixia Temple in Sheshan is located on Qixia mountain in the northeast of Nanjing city. It is one of the four famous temples in China and the birthplace of Sanlun sect of Buddhism in the south of the Yangtze River. Qixia Temple is not only the best scenic spot in Nanjing, but also famous for its important position in the history of Chinese Buddhism. In 1983, it was designated by the State Council as the national key Buddhist temple in the Han area.
Qixia Temple wind covers an area of more than 40 mu, a total of Pilu hall Scripture building three into the courtyard service, according to the mountain rise layer by layer, the pattern is neat and beautiful. Main scenic spots: relic pagoda of Qixia Temple, a relic of the Southern Tang Dynasty, is one of the oldest stone pagodas south of the Yangtze River and the largest relic Pagoda in China. Stone pagoda octagonal five, about 15 meters high. The base is surrounded by stone railings, which are used to restore the original objects of the Five Dynasties. Sea water, dragon, Phoenix, fish and shrimp are carved on the ground of the base, but only part of them remains. Under the pagoda, there are eight Sakyamuni phases on each side of xumizuo. After thousands of years of wind and rain, although some of the stone eaves have been destroyed, they still stand tall and become the witness of the flourishing Buddha spirit in Jinling. The Great Buddha Pavilion, also known as the three holy halls, is for the Buddha of limitless longevity, which was excavated for Shiyi in the Southern Qi Dynasty. The statue of Buddha is 10.8 meters tall, and even the seat is 13.3 meters high. The statue of Avalokitesvara stands around Bodhisattva, 11 meters high. The pleated style of the Buddha is similar to the Yungang Stone Buddha in Datong. It was originally two Jieyin Buddhas beside the relic pagoda, more than three meters high, beautiful and elegant, similar to Luoyang Longmen stone Buddha, and also a peerless treasure in the golden age of Chinese Buddhist art. Qianfoyan, known as "Yungang in the south of the Yangtze River", is the only Southern Dynasty Grottoes in China. Wuliang hall Wuliang hall is the earliest and largest Buddhist niche in Qianfoyan. Wuliangshou Buddha is in the middle, with Guanyin on both sides. The statue is symmetrical and smooth. The style of the three Buddhas' pleats is similar to that of Yungang Grottoes, and the excavation date is 17 years earlier than that of Yungang Grottoes. Its value lies in preserving the original charm of the Buddha statues of the Southern Dynasties, especially in the south of the Yangtze River.
