Beiguan fort was first built in the Ming Dynasty, where troops were stationed. Its official identity can be seen from the name of the fort. The terrain inside the fort is complex and diverse. The big fort sets up the small fort, forming a double-layer defense line. The ancient granary and the ancient secret road are distributed among them. The thick and solid fort wall and the towering Gate Tower of Xieshan Fort all show the solemnity and magnificence of the military fortress. Xigubao, also known as zhaibao, is a cultural relic protection unit in Hebei Province. It was built in Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in Qing Dynasty. It is a typical northern village fortress. The West Castle covers a total area of 67300 square meters. The walls of the castle are made of loess. It is surrounded by two gates, North and south, facing each other. The plane of the castle is square, and the street is in the shape of "country", commonly known as one street and six lanes. A north-south street paved with bluestones forms the central axis of the castle. There are three main lanes in the East and west of the main street. A large number of ancient dwellings such as Taoyuan and Siheyuan are distributed among them. This is the residential area of the people in the town, as well as the war preparation and living materials supply place of beiguanbao.
Beiguanbao Village
Beiguanbao village, Yuxian County, Hebei Province, is the largest of the "three fortresses" in Wenquan ancient town, a famous historical and cultural town in China. It was built in the early Ming Dynasty and has a history of nearly 700 years. The existing relatively intact Gate Tower of high Xieshan style fort, Lujia small fort and Beiguan fort in the fort form the characteristics of "Bao Tao Bao". The famous ancient cultural heritage "Da Shu Hua" originated here. In August 2015, beiguanbao village was awarded "China rural tourism model village" by the National Tourism Administration.
geographical position
Beiguanbao is located in the northeast of Nuanquan Town, Yu County, Hebei Province, which is the largest of the three warm springs. Because of the military garrison system in Ming Dynasty, a large number of fortresses were built in Yuxian County. Beiguan fortress was built at that time. The existing relatively good tall Xieshan style fortress gatehouse shows its strong military atmosphere. Lujia castle in the castle is the first place where Nuanquan was inhabited. Together with Beiguan castle, it forms a big characteristic of Weizhou castle, which is called "Bao Tao Bao". After winter, Beiguan Castle shows more vicissitudes.
Historical records
According to historical records, the ancient town belonged to Jizhou in the Yao and Shun dynasties, to the dynastic states in the Shang and Zhou dynasties, and to the competing states of Zhao and Qin in the Warring States period. In the Qin, Han, Three Kingdoms and two Jin Dynasties, all of them belonged to Daijun, and Nuanquan belonged to Pingshu county. In the west of the town, there are large tombs of Fengtu Han Dynasty, where the bureaucrats of that year are buried. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, the Han nationality and the minority nationality fought for each other. The town was built in the Yuan Dynasty and developed into "Sanbao, Liuxiang and shibazhuang" in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Since then, Nuanquan has become a transportation hub and business center in the west of Yuxian County. It is recorded in the channel map of Weizhou annals that "in the warm spring Fort 30 miles west of the city, the source of the spring flows from east to west with a stone urn." it is also said that "the water is as clear as a mirror, and it does not freeze in three winters, so it is the cloud." The name of "warm spring" comes from this. The most famous of the two springs is Fengyuan pool water, which flows slowly around the village through the East and West Longkou. In the south of Fengyuan pool is the pavilion Academy. The main building of the academy is an 80 m2 Pavilion. The spring water passes through the pavilion from the ground. In front of the pavilion is a water well, which is octagonal in stone, so it is called octagonal well. "Water over the pavilions and octagonal wells" is one of the "eight scenic spots" in Yuxian County. The spring water irrigates hundreds of acres of vegetable gardens and rice fields in the south of the town along the open channel around the village, and finally flows into Huliuhe reservoir in the southeast of the town. On a cold day, the spring water flows out for 1.5 kilometers without freezing.
architectural style
The street of beiguanbao is in the shape of "main". The tall gate building is the point of the main character. Through the gate, from south to north, it is a straight main street, and the houses on both sides are in the shape of fishbone. Walking back and forth between the old houses carved for hundreds of years, the former prosperous scene of the ancient castle can not help but emerge in front of us. Most of the dwellings in the fort are of civil structure. Although some of them are dilapidated, the exquisite wood carving gatehouses are more primitive.
The higher you go, the steeper the terrain is. On the high loess slope, there stands the Lu family castle. It looks like an old man quietly guarding his home.
First there was Lu family castle, then there was Beiguan castle. According to the villagers in the fort, Wenquan Town used to have many streams and abundant springs, so the houses were built on high places. The average altitude of Yuxian County is 800 meters, and lujiaxiaobao is the highest, with an altitude of nearly 1000 meters. This can be clearly distinguished from the dilapidated degree of the house. According to legend, when the Ming army beat back the Mongolian soldiers, only one family with the surname Lu was left to live and multiply here. Later, the four families of Zong, Liu, Hou and Zhang moved here, built the city wall and built the Beiguan fort, thus forming a unique pattern of "fort in fort".
The grand and well preserved underground castle is also the unique landscape of Beiguan castle. Led by the local villagers, we walked into the underground castle under the Lu family castle. In the castle, there are all kinds of living rooms, meeting rooms and daily life facilities, which are still well preserved after hundreds of years, which makes us sigh for the wisdom of the ancients. According to reports, in the castle, each family has built an underground ancient secret Road, which is connected with each other and connected with each other, with strong security and defense.
cultural heritage
The provincial intangible cultural heritage project "Da Shu Hua" in Nuanquan town is famous at home and abroad, and is known as "the wonder of the world". This unique folk activity originated from beiguanbao.
There is a popular saying about the origin of the folk activity of "beating trees and flowers". During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Nuanquan town was a trade distribution center on zhangku business road. The foundry industry was very developed. There were many blacksmith workshops. During the Spring Festival, the rich people set off fireworks to celebrate. The blacksmiths were also eager for festivity, but they could not afford fireworks. They get inspiration from the sparks splashed in the iron making process. Because the sparks splashed in the iron making furnace are very similar to the fireworks, they try to pour the molten iron in the furnace on the wall. This is the origin of "tree beating flower". Since then, every year on the 14th day of the first lunar month, local villagers will voluntarily donate old pig iron and coal to celebrate the festival with the unique folk activity of "beating trees and flowers".
