Architectural features
Style features
The overall architecture of the mosque in Zhuxian Town is a typical Chinese traditional quadrangle building, which can be said to be a typical example of the architectural culture of the Islamic mosque in the Qing Dynasty. The third courtyard is the main courtyard of the mosque, and the main hall of worship is located in this courtyard. In the west of the courtyard is the main hall, which is set off by nine steps. In the main hall is a cave style hall. Outside the main hall, the north and South lecture halls are on the left and right sides. The whole mosque is resplendent and colorful.
Main buildings
Qianshanmen is located at the easternmost end of the central axis of the temple. It is three rooms wide and two rooms deep. It is 10 meters high and has a single eaves at the top of the mountain. On both sides of the gate are fan walls in the shape of "eight", with exquisite brick carvings in the center. In the center of the ridge above the mountain gate is a treasure vase with a lion on its back. On both sides are relief sculptures of glass dragons and phoenixes. On the front are dragons and on the back are phoenixes. The dancing of dragons and phoenixes is lifelike.
There are two stone lions on both sides of the mountain gate, one male and one female, with a female lion on the left and a young lion in her arms. It is said that the stones of the two stone lions came from the Arabian Peninsula and were transported by the grain River in front of them. Then they were soaked in water for 7749 days and carved by skilled craftsmen. The base under the stone lion is carved with a chrysanthemum pattern. Chrysanthemum is the city flower of Kaifeng, which is not a new thing. According to historical records, as early as 1600 years ago, people in Kaifeng began to plant chrysanthemum, known as "Kaifeng Chrysanthemum is the best in the world". According to the records of menghualu in Tokyo, Kaifeng was the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty at that time. There were not only flower events and chrysanthemum contests among the people, but also artistic performances such as inserting chrysanthemum branches, hanging chrysanthemum lamps and holding chrysanthemum meetings at the court. I want to explain at least hundreds of years ago that Kaifeng Bianjing people loved chrysanthemums.
