Guantaiwei Bridge
Guantaiwei bridge is an ancient bridge in the east of Suzhou city. It is located in the south of BAIXIAN bridge on Ganjiang East Road, and at the west end of Tangjia lane. It crosses the fourth straight river.

Taiwei was an official of "three gongs" in the Tang and Song Dynasties, and juxtaposed with Cheng and Imperial Envoys. It is said that the bridge got its name from the residence of Taiwei, the official surname.
Historical evolution
It was built in Song Dynasty. It was rebuilt in 1696 and rebuilt in 1878.
Bridge status
For wukangshi, single hole granite step flat bridge, 15.6 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, span 3 meters, two slope steps each 11. In 1982, it was changed into concrete wall bridge column, and in 1991, it was changed into stone bridge column.
On November 24, 1998, guantaiwei bridge was listed as the fourth batch of Suzhou cultural relics protection units by Suzhou municipal government.
The significance of protection
The records of guantaiwei bridge can be found in Wu Jun Zhi written by Fan Chengda of the Southern Song Dynasty, which proves that the bridge was built in the Southern Song Dynasty. Although it was repaired many times by later generations, it still retains the original bridge stone components. It is a rare physical preservation of the ancient city of Suzhou in the Song Dynasty and has high cultural value. There are many ancient buildings around the bridge, and the style of the ancient city is well preserved, showing the unique water city charm of Suzhou for thousands of years.
