brief introduction
The original Changgan bridge was built by Yang Wu in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. It was the only way for the Yujie street of the Southern Tang Dynasty to reach changganli outside the city.
In 1269, the fifth year of Xianchun in the Southern Song Dynasty, Ma Guangzu, the Minister of the Ministry of household affairs, rebuilt it and renamed it Chang'an bridge as a five hole stone arch bridge.
Rebuilt in the early Ming Dynasty, also known as Jubao bridge. It was repaired many times in Qing Dynasty.
During the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, it was destroyed in the Tianjing defense war.
In 1876, the bridge was restored, 43 meters long.
It was bombed in 1937 during the Anti Japanese war. During the Japanese puppet period, wooden bridges were built to maintain traffic.
It was built in 1946 and collapsed two years later. A temporary military bridge was built to maintain traffic.
It was rebuilt by the Municipal Construction Bureau in January 1951. The bridge is divided into five holes, 48.51 meters in total length and 21.3 meters in width. It is a reinforced concrete beam slab structure. The piers and abutments are reconstructed by using the original bridge foundation. The design vehicle load is grade-13 and grade-60. Liu Bocheng, the first mayor, inscribed the name of the bridge. Later, because the flood discharge in flood season was still not smooth, it was expanded again in 1975. Three holes in the north of the old bridge were used, two holes in the South were demolished and built, and three holes in the South were added with prestressed concrete T-beam, with the beam bottom elevation of 12.02m. The flood discharge has more than doubled to 700-800 cubic meters per second.

In December 1937, in order to prevent the Japanese invaders from attacking, the Kuomintang garrison blew up the big arch in the middle, and then paved it with wood and steel beams for traffic. In 1951, it was rebuilt as a reinforced concrete bridge, written by Liu Bocheng. With the need of traffic development, and in order to improve the drainage capacity of Qinhuai River, it was expanded in 1975. After expansion, the Changgan bridge is 100 meters long and 24 meters wide, with a total of 8 spans. The white marble stele of "Changgan bridge" inscribed by Liu Bocheng is inlaid around the railings at the bridgehead.
Standing on the bridge and looking at the water, you can see the sails moving along the ancient and magnificent city wall in the distance; the Qinhuai River is turbulent under the bridge, the spring breeze is like catkins, and the willow flowers are like wind and snow; the traffic on the bridge all day long and the pedestrians come in an endless stream, which is a scene full of spring.
