In 1662, the first year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, the 11th year of the water tiger in the Tibetan calendar, was built by angweng pengcuo, a disciple of the fifth Dalai Lama. Its full name is Bairi Zhongsheng Xiangsi, which means Qinggang mountain is beneficial to all living beings xiangruizhou. It is called Baili temple for short, which means Qinggang mountain temple.
Existing buildings
The existing main temple is a Tibetan attic building with one floor and two floors and a mud top. There are preaching hall, Maitreya hall and Dharma hall in the temple. The first floor is the Buddha Hall, which is the main building, divided into East and West Hall and main hall. The space is high, with murals painted on the wall, colorful and well preserved. In the West Hall, there are three 5-meter-high gilded Buddha statues. The second and third floors are small houses for living Buddhas and lamas. Baili temple is the seat of Ganzi Boba government (Tibetan government) established when the red army passed by in 1936. There is a memorial hall for commander in chief Zhu De and the fifth Geda living Buddha on the second floor of the hall. The fifth Geda living Buddha is the abbot of Baili temple and an outstanding Tibetan figure. He enjoys a high reputation in Kangba and even in Tibetan areas. Baili Temple became a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level in 1980, and Geda living Buddha memorial hall was set up in 1983. The combination of temple culture and Red Army culture is a good base for patriotism education and a good place for people to look forward to. In recent years, the temple has been renovated.
