Baodu village, located in Gujiao Township, Lingchuan County, Jincheng City, Shanxi Province, has only six or seven families. It is still the only village in Jincheng city without access to roads. However, because of its beautiful scenery and steep mountains, Baodu village has won the favor of outdoor sports lovers and professional photography lovers at home and abroad.

Baodu village people live on the cliffs at the southern foot of Taihang Mountain, and the north of the village is adjacent to xiyagou. Baodu village is 35 kilometers away from xiyagou, which is connected by a small road on the hillside. The two villages belong to the same ancient suburb. Baodu village is surrounded by green trees, mountains and water, and beautiful scenery. Baodu village communicates with Gujiao Township by connecting with xiyagou, but the difference is that xiyagou people have not only built mountains, but also dug a road for cars from the hillside in 1995. Baodu village is still the only administrative village in Jincheng city that has no access to roads, except for digging some foot pits on the cliff and installing a section of iron chain in dangerous places in 1957 and 1980s.

Village history

To be exact, the history of Baodu village is closely related to the captured General Ma Wu of the Eastern Han Dynasty. According to Lingchuan County annals written by Guangxu of Qing Dynasty, "Baodu race is Baodu mountain, which is more than 30 Li southeast of Mawu village." Where does mawuzhai come from? According to Chapter 12 of the biographies of Zhu, Jing, Wang, Du, Ma, Liu, Fu, Jian and Ma Lie in Volume 22 of the book of the later Han Dynasty, Ma Wu, Zi Zhang, a native of Nanyang Lake, lived in Jiangxia when he was young. At the end of Wang Mang's reign, the three veterans of Youyang in Jingling set up troops in the county boundary, followed by Wu, and then joined the Han army. He was one of the 28 famous generals of Zhongxing in the Han Dynasty. After Liu Xuan became emperor, military officer Ma went to dailang and joined forces with Liu Xiu to attack Wang Xun. He was worshipped as general Zhenwei because of his military achievements. After Guangwu became emperor, he worshipped Wu as a Duwei and a Duhou. In the fourth year of Jianwu's reign, Ma Wu served as a captive general for his outstanding military achievements. In the 13th year of Jianwu, Ma Wu led troops to settle down in Quyang to defend the Huns in the north. Because of the meritorious service of Wei state, he was granted the title of marquis Yang Xu. Ma Wu loved drinking very much. He was bold, broad-minded and bold. He died in Yongping four years ago. In memory of General Ma Wu, later generations named the mountain village where Ma Wu once lived as Ma Wu Village (which was administratively divided into Ma Wu Village Township after the founding of the people's Republic of China), and Baodu village has always been subordinate to Ma Wu village. Therefore, in terms of the celebrity effect of modern vulgarity, because of Ma Wu's fame, can we think that without "Ma Wu Village" as the coordinate, Baodu village is likely to be difficult to determine its latitude and longitude and lost in the historical river. So it can be said for sure that without Mawu, there would be no exact archives of Baodu village.

As for the history of Baodu village, we can find some clues from the small village. According to the existing inscriptions and incense burners in the village, it is not too late for Baodu village to be established. At least it was a village in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. According to the old people's memory, most of the ancestors came from the south of the river and settled in the mountains to avoid the war or famine in the Central Plains.

Villagers' life

Baodu village is surrounded by mountains on three sides, adjacent to water, built on mountains and densely populated. This is a stone village. The houses are stone, the ground is stone, the walls are stone, and there are stone mills, stone benches, stone stoves, stone troughs and so on. Although Baodu village is a sea of stones, it is different from other houses in Taihang Mountain: except for individual houses whose roofs are stone slabs, most of them are made of small gray tiles. In front of the village, the open space beside the river valley is terraced fields reclaimed by villagers. The simple mountain people hide the village in the green fruit forest.

How do villagers live in Baodu village under such traffic conditions? How do they get married? How to exchange goods? How to contact the local government? What makes them feel at ease in this beautiful but dangerous place? This has been a surprise for the domestic tourists.

In the world outside Baodu village, most of the transportation modes for marriage are sedan chair, donkey, horse, bicycle, car, etc., but Baodu village can't get any of these things. Baodu village people's marriage has been walking since ancient times. Wang Bao's wife is from Liulin village, Huixian County, Henan Province. They got married in 1965. Wang Bao and a group of "best men" arrived in Liulin the first day and stayed there. The next day, just at dawn, the bride and the young men started from Henan Province, carrying a red baggage and married themselves to Baodu on foot. In Baodu village, another young man married a girl from Henan in spring. The girl is still married step by step. Since ancient times, this kind of marriage custom has been formed, so the women in Baodu village have never complained that they have not enjoyed the "fashionable and grand ceremony".

People in Baodu village are not as poor as they think. The products in the mountains are sold at very good prices. The only difference is that this "mode of transportation" is laborious and inefficient. But "mountain goods are only received several times a year. What should we do with such high efficiency?" Said an old man in the village. As for strength, people in Baodu village think that it's not a scarce thing. It will come out when it's used, but it doesn't need to - as long as it doesn't make people tired and sick.

In this respect, Baodu villagers have deep memories. Since the 1950s and 1960s, the annual public grain delivery campaign has been a nightmare in the memory of the older generation in Baodu village. At that time, the village sent out more than 10000 kilograms of grain every year. Each young man carries 40 Jin, and each adult laborer carries 75 Jin. More than 60 men in the village are all out. Starting from Tiangang white, they can't be delivered to Gujiao grain station until about 1:00 noon. In 1976, a cadre came to Baodu for inspection and thought that such work should not continue. After research, it was decided that the public grain of Baodu village should be sent to Huixian County, Henan Province, and then transferred to Shanxi and Henan Province for balance. So far, the bitter punishment of Baodu villagers was slightly alleviated.

Now, the problems of people's access and transportation in the village have been basically solved. For more than 30000 yuan, the village has installed a winch on the cliff and welded an iron cage with an elevation of 800 meters, which can lift 800 Jin of goods each time. If you want to buy something, you can hire a tricycle from Henan to pull it into the valley, and then hang it up from under the cliff.

Travel

In recent years, Baodu village's "impassability" and "cliff waterfall" have become the goals of countless domestic donkey friends, outdoor sports lovers, ordinary tourists and student camping training organizers. Its "impassability" and "difficulty" are becoming a fashion selling point, bringing unexpected benefits to the villagers.

So, is it better for a beautiful village to have convenient transportation, or is it better to be rugged with mountains and rivers? This can be seen from the comparison between Baodu village and xiyagou village.

The effect of two villages and two methods is: xiyagou becomes a scenic spot of wangmangling scenic spot, Baodu becomes an independent scenic spot of both wangmangling and baligou scenic spot in Henan Province. Because of the main road, the tourists drive to xiyagou and return to wangmangling, but they can't keep people. Baodu is characterized by "difficult to get in and difficult to get out", and the purpose of those who come is to "enjoy the hardship and have a rest in the village". Those who came in had no physical strength to walk back immediately, which made the business of four or five small hotels in Baodu village successful. In terms of income, Baodu village earns more than xiyagou people.

Now, this problem has basically come to a conclusion. The villagers generally believe that if the investment in road construction is huge and the original ecology is to be destroyed, then it is not necessary to repair it on the premise that the quality of life of the villagers is not greatly affected.

There is another important reason why Baodu village is not suitable to open roads: if machinery is driven into the mountain, it will inevitably affect the survival of the precious Taxus.
