Shi gongta

Beitan pagoda, also known as Shigong pagoda, was built in 1748 to commemorate Jiexiu people's being the county magistrate of Jiexiu County in 1596.

Development history

There is a ginkgo tree on the top of the tower. Whenever ginkgo falls to the ground, people regard it as an immortal and try to pick it up first. There is Shengyin Temple behind the tower and a pavilion, pool and green willow in front of the tower. In recent years, Beitan park has been built around Tazhou.

Shi Gong's name records events, and his word is Yibo. During the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, Jinshi was born in Weinan County, Shaanxi Province. In the 24th year of Wanli, he was the magistrate of Jiexiu. During his four years in office, he led the public in repairing canals and sinking wells, rectifying water regulations, establishing academic libraries and giving lectures in person. In the year of drought, he donated his salary and mobilized the rich families to provide food for the victims. Because he had intended to build a tower in the northwest corner outside the city, but he did not have time to implement it, more than 150 years later, the local people thought about the virtue of Shigong and raised funds to build the tower as a memorial.

During his stay, Shi Gong saw that the local people were too luxurious, worshipped Buddhism, and had little knowledge of teaching children because of their market advantages. He set up an education center aimed at rectifying the wind and educating people. He personally compiled and printed popular teaching materials such as Zhengsu, xunmong, Sili Jiyao, and Wuxing Huayu, and launched the society to develop schools and raise funds. Mianshan academy, founded by Shi Gong, was established from the Wanli year of Ming Dynasty to the end of Qing Dynasty. In 1902, it was changed into Jiexiu Primary School of higher learning.

It is located at the north end of beiheyanjie street, Jiexiu City, central and southern Shanxi Province. Specific introduction

It is a seven story octagonal pavilion style brick tower. The 35 meter tower is decorated with yellow and green colored glass, with a magnificent appearance. There are brick windows on all sides of each floor in the west of the tower. There are wooden ladders and steps to view from the top.
