Tai ho Island
It is 58 km to the southwest of Xiangzhou, 7 km to Gaolan island in the East, 3.1 km to Hebao island in the south, 1.8 km to Delta Island in the north and 12.65 km to the mainland. Because the central part of the island is flat and rich in mangrove grass, it is named.
Island profile
Limestone structure, surface layer and shrub. It is high and big in the north, low and small in the south. The terrain is head shaped. There are many steep rocks along the coast, and many caves in the concave. There is a reef between Dazui and Yazui in the north. There are water sources in guabangwan and Tung Chung, and fishing boats often take water from the two places to avoid the wind and cut firewood. In 1984, the South China Institute of dangerous animals set up a research station on the island and raised monkeys and deer. Damiao island has been uninhabited since ancient times. At present, there are no fixed residents on the island. The original ecology is well preserved, and the vegetation is rich. There are many kinds of rare animals and plants. There are more than 600 kinds of tropical rainforests and ornamental plants, such as jiangjunmu, luohansong, Machilus, Phyllanthus emblica, chunhuashu, etc. there are more than 10 kinds of rare wild animals, such as deer, monkey, turtle, etc. there are more than 100 kinds of fish, shrimp, fan, shellfish, and groups of "white fin veins" flying along the island You can jump and chase the boat.
The trend of the island is roughly southwest northeast. It is located at the mouth of Huangmaohai sea. There are two scour troughs on the East and west sides of the island. The East trough is relatively near, the West trough is slightly far away, and the undercurrent in the trough is relatively rapid. There are macaques on the island, which is a key natural and Ecological Reserve in Guangdong Province. Damang island is suitable to be developed into a tourist area focusing on appreciating natural ecology, cherishing species and carrying out popular science education.
