brief introduction
The building covers an area of 2460 square meters and a building area of 2930 square meters. It is designed and built by Weng ruishe, a Chaozhou native. Steel, cement and other building materials are imported from abroad through Shantou. In addition to following the layout of the Hakka residential buildings in the plane, the building has almost completely changed to the western style in appearance. Here, even the traditional tile roofed house has disappeared. Instead, it has a completely flat roof, with a flat cornice overlooking from all sides. On the eaves, there are standing columns and bottle railings. The entrance and exit gatehouses are specially decorated to show their prominence. On the flat roof of the main gate in the middle, a square pavilion with a dome was built, with double columns at each corner, semicircular arches on all sides, decorative bottles on both sides, and a screen wall on the front. The title is "Lianfang building". Under the word "lianfanglou", the two lions in the colored plastic rolling embroidered ball are set with five pointed stars on top, meaning auspicious stars. On both sides of the main entrance and exit, there is a Western screen wall. On both sides, it is composed of Ionic style columns with grooves and eaves. On them are decorated bottles. In the center is a semicircle arch. On the front is a five pointed star, which is held by two angels with wings. In addition, it is decorated with a crouching lion and a clay sculpture of auspicious cloud arch day. All of these are auspicious.
The plane layout is square, balanced and symmetrical, with two floors of brick concrete structure. The central axis is divided into upper, middle and lower halls. The main gatehouse is set on the central axis of the facade, and the auxiliary gatehouse, small gatehouse and wing room are set on the left and right symmetrically. The upper hall is a pillow room type wing room on the left and right. There are flat eaves around the eaves. On the eaves, the watchposts are erected according to the division, and the bottle railings are set. It is specially decorated at the entrance to show prominence. On the flat roof of the main entrance of the center, a square pavilion with a dome is built, with double columns at each corner, semicircular arches on four sides and bottle ornaments on both sides. A screen wall is built on the facade, with the title: Lianfang building. On the facade, Lianfang building does not emphasize the horizontal level of painting, but emphasizes the primary and secondary. With the center as the main part, the height of the two sides gradually decreases, the degree of delicacy decreases, and the complexity also changes from complex to simple. Its interior decoration is also extremely exquisite, with a high level of technology. There are four seasons screen, carved flowers hanging, waist window and so on. In addition to the traditional four seasons flowers, even three halberds, Ping'an precious, durian hundred seeds and so on, they all use extremely exquisite fine lines on the base, and all are decorated with gold foil, resplendent and exquisite construction. Lianfang building combines Chinese and Western styles, integrates western classical style, Baroque style, Rococo style and Chinese Hakka style in Fujian and Guangdong. It adopts the layout of central axis symmetry, with bold and distinctive techniques. It was a rare Hakka residential building with brick structure at that time. Lianfang building was built by an Indonesian overseas Chinese surnamed Qiu. At the beginning of last century, countless laborers went to Nanyang and wrote a bloody history of Chinese workers. Perhaps it was the characteristic of the Chinese people at that time. When they got rich, they had to go back to their ancestral home to build large-scale projects. On the one hand, they were grateful for the protection of their ancestors; on the other hand, they had to build a comfortable nest for their later years.
It took three years for Lianfang building to be built and cost 200000 yuan. All the main materials are imported from abroad, using a lot of gold, jewelry, jade. More than 100 skilled craftsmen were employed from abroad and Shantou for construction.
