Sun Moon Spring

Around the 21st year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1593 AD), it was named tianyiquan, also known as laifuquan. In the Qing Dynasty, someone covered Yuequan with a crescent shaped hollow stone slab, and Riquan with a round hole in the middle. It was named riyuequan because it looked like the sun and the moon.

The legend of Sun Moon Spring

There is a beautiful legend! At the beginning of heaven and earth, when Nu Wa made man from mud, a pair of the most perfect men and women came to Pingyin along the East Bank of the Yellow River. They lived a carefree life here. At dawn, they stand on the mountain to watch the sunrise. In the evening, they lie under the tree to watch the moon.

The sun is very strong and warm, like a man, the moon is soft and beautiful, like a woman, so they have their own name: the man is the sun, the woman is the moon, what about the stars? The sun and moon in the sky have so many stars. What about their own little stars? The moon also found that life around has its own "little stars": the big Swan leads the little swan, and the little deer nestles up to the mother deer. With curiosity and desire, they begin to explore the origin of life. When they have a primitive impulse, the sun takes the moon to yuncui mountain, finds a stone cave and makes a home in it. One day, the sun was surprised to find that the moon's belly bulged up, in the long wait, the little star was finally born. However, what the moon gave birth to is not a small star like them, but a big smooth meat ball. What can we do? Inspired by the swan, the moon holds the meat in her arms, curls up in the cave, and the sun holds the moon in her arms. They want to use their own heat to warm the little life. The sun and the moon lie like this for 999 days. On the 1000th morning as like as two peas, the miracle finally appeared. The bigger and bigger meat ball suddenly split nine mouths, and every mouth crawled out with a tiny star identical to them. Nine small stars crawled on them. The sun and moon were not happy enough to speak. The little star rose slowly and stood up, calling the sun and the moon, "Daddy, mommy". The sun and the moon finally have their own lovely little stars, but they are too tired, exhausted and fall asleep forever. Later, a clear spring appeared where the sun and the moon went to sleep, and later generations called it the Sun Moon Spring. The stone cave is engraved with the words "Huiyang cave, Laifu spring", which means looking forward to the reincarnation of the life of the sun and the moon. What about the nine little stars? They scattered around yuncui mountain, turned into nine eyes spring, watching their parents day and night.

On the west gate frame of Huiyang entrance where the Sun Moon Spring is located, there is a couplet saying, "the sun and the moon are good by the Sun Moon Spring, and the sun and the moon are bright through the ages."

The sun lake is round and slightly smaller, so it is called "Sun Lake"; the Moon Lake is long and slightly larger, so it is called "Moon Lake". The two lakes are connected together, like a ring, separated by a lake dike, and the bridge is like a link. Riyue Lake: a scenic spot between the East and West urban areas of Yongcheng City, Shangqiu City, Henan Province. The water surface is 6 square kilometers and can store 20 million cubic meters of water. In the area, the sun lake is round like the sun, and the Moon Lake is slightly long like the moon. The two lakes are connected and separated by rockery. On the rockery, the temples of Sun God and moon god are built. The temples are decorated with poems and paintings praising the sun god and moon god. Riyue Lake: the park is located in the entrepreneurial farm of Jiansanjiang Administration Bureau of Heilongjiang Province. It covers more than five hectares. Riyue Lake: there is a lake in the campus of China Institute of metrology, which is called "Riyue Lake". It's named sun and moon. In fact, it's Yin and Yang. There are two pavilions on the lake, Xihe in the East and Wangshu in the West. It corresponds to the Sun Moon Lake. Xihe is the sun, Wangshu is the moon. There is a small island in the Sun Moon Lake, which looks like a bead floating on the water. It is named Zhuzi Island (Guanghua Island). Riyue township: it is located in the southwest of Huangyuan County, with an average altitude of 3100 meters, a total area of 482 square kilometers, a cultivated area of 44000 Mu and a grassland area of 450000 mu. Riyue mountain: located in Riyue Township, 40 kilometers southwest of Huangyuan County, Qinghai Province, it belongs to Qilian Mountains, with an average altitude of about 4000 meters. It is called "nimadawa" in Tibetan and "narasara" in Mongolian, both of which mean the sun and the moon. There is a sun moon Pavilion on the mountain (completed in 1990). Main attractions

The southern Heaven Temple, where the Sun Moon Spring is located, was founded in the Yuan Dynasty. Yuhuang Pavilion, Penglai fairy courtyard, Changchun Pavilion, lingxu Pavilion, Zhenwu temple and other buildings still exist in the temple, with verdant pines and cypresses, and shadows connected. The two springs are adjacent but not connected. The spring can flow back and forth between the two holes. After several twists and turns, it finally flows into Tianyi cave from the underground. Taoist temple, with this spring to draw water for cooking tea.

Spring water does not dry up for a long time and does not fluctuate with drought and flood. Yuequan is in the South and Riquan is in the north. The two springs are adjacent but not connected. The spring water can flow back and forth between the two holes. After several twists and turns, it finally flows into Tianyi cave from the underground. The spring water is more than one foot away from the hole, so visitors can drink it.
