It was built by Pan Jixun (1521-1595) in Ming Dynasty at the confluence of Tiao River and Pei river at the north gate of Huzhou, so it was named "Pangong bridge". Pan Jixun was born in Wucheng (his hometown is zhanghuaixi village in huanzhu, Huzhou). He was a famous water conservancy expert in Ming Dynasty. In 1584, when he was demoted and returned to his hometown, he saw that the water at the confluence of the two streams was turbulent and the people had difficulty crossing. His father pan Shang (No. Yi nunnery) also wanted to build a bridge at the confluence of the two streams, but it didn't come true. In order to inherit his father's ambition, he donated 2500 liang of silver and initiated the construction of the bridge. During this period, pan Gong paid close attention to his affairs. Wanli was built in 13 years and completed in 18 years, which lasted for 5 years. During the reconstruction in 1840, the 5-hole stone wood girder bridge was changed into 3-hole stone arch bridge to increase the water discharge. The bridge is 57.5 meters long, 6.6 meters wide and 9.5 meters high. The clear span of the main hole is 15.5 meters, the arch height is 8 meters, the clear span of the north and South holes is 9.3 meters, and the arch height is 5 meters. In August 1984, Huzhou Municipal People's government announced that Pangong bridge was a municipal cultural relics protection unit.
