Shilang Lake

Shilang lake is located in Binzhou City, Shaanxi Province. Located in Weibei tableland in the northwest of Xianyang City, it is a national 4A tourist attraction. Shilang lake is located in Niubei village, didian Township, 33 km south of Binzhou City. It is a natural barrier lake. Shilang lake is a large natural freshwater lake in Shaanxi Province, which has the reputation of "Plateau Pearl".

There are rich historical and cultural resources and numerous natural scenery around Shilang Lake in Binzhou City. It is about 40 kilometers away from Dafosi temple, the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units of world cultural heritage, and about 45 kilometers away from taijiwan natural scenic spot. Now, Shilang lake has formed a two-day tour route integrating shopping, dining and leisure (chenzhouyi - China berry Valley picking garden - Ski Resort)- Shilang Lake - Baitu community - Shuiliandong Huaguo Mountain - Dafo Temple). Shilang Lake in Binzhou City is about 110 kilometers away from Xi'an Xianyang Airport and 130 kilometers away from Xi'an north station.

In September 2018, Shilang Lake scenic spot was approved as a national 4A scenic spot.

Shilang lake, the main part of Shilang lake natural scenic spot (Shilang Lake Forest Park), is located in Niubei village, didian Town, 40 km south of Binxian county. The lake covers an area of 370 mu, with an average water depth of 13 meters, the deepest of which can reach 18 meters, and the total storage capacity is about 1.66 million cubic meters. There are three miracles in Shilang Lake: one is that the water level of Shilang lake will not be affected by abundant rainfall or drought; the other is that there are no fallen leaves in summer and autumn. Shilang lake is surrounded by mountains with dense leaves, but its surface is clean and no fallen leaves all the year round. It was formed in the Ming Dynasty, with an average altitude of 1440 meters, a water surface area of 370 mu, a water depth of about 13 meters, the deepest of 18 meters, and a total storage capacity of 3.85 million cubic meters. There is a saying in Binxian that "there is a West Temple in Binxian, half of which pokes into the sky." it means that the West Temple is very high. Shilang lake is located in the southeast edge of ximiaotou forest region, which has been poked into the sky. Ximiaotou forest area is one of the key protection forest areas of Qianshan 13th line in Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. The total area of forest area is 100000 mu, and the area of Binxian county is 73000 mu. The forest coverage rate is more than 95%. It is the "natural oxygen bar" and "green lung" of Binxian county. There are mainly natural secondary forests and orderly plantations in the forest area. There are many kinds of trees, and it is also a paradise for other animals. If you're lucky, maybe you can see one or two wild deer galloping past the car window. In spring, the forest is full of birds singing, flowers fragrant, bees flying and butterflies dancing; in summer, the forest is lush and green, with tree shadows whirling; in autumn, the wind blows through the forest, with yellow leaves on the floor; in winter, the mountains are vast, like a good splash ink landscape painting, quiet, far away, relaxed and happy. According to the county records, Shilang lake was formed in the 34th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty in the Guanzhong earthquake. According to the records of China earthquake catalogue, "the Qin and Jin Dynasties intersected, the earth suddenly shook, the five mountains wavered, and the tombs and valleys changed." The great earthquake in Guanzhong is almost the change of mountains and rivers, the vicissitudes of tombs and valleys, and the vicissitudes of the sea. Binxian county is also in the epicenter of the earthquake. It is very likely that Shilang lake was formed by landslides in the earthquake.

Historical legend

It is said that a long time ago, the God of Shi Lang was an official in charge of ponds and lakes. His ambition is to moisten the thirsty land with sweet water, to make the fields green and verdant, and to make the people of the world have enough food. However, the emperor of heaven, because he believed the slander of the villain and misunderstood the God of the servant, was very angry with him for his kindness to the people. He often provoked disturbances and hurt him, so that he had to abandon his official position and live in seclusion and came to the confrontation of the mountains in mijiagou. He lost his official position, but he still carried a pool of water and continued to help the local people. The mountain god was afraid that the servant God would win the respect of the people and lose his dignity. He wanted to drive away the servant God and sent the generals to break the dike and release water. The servant was restless and moved again with a melancholy mood. In the evening, he borrowed cattle vehicles from villagers to carry the lake water. When the people were sober, they heard the news and cried. They were reluctant to give up. The mountain god was afraid that the servant God would change his mind because of this. He tried to use thunder to drive away the cattle. In a moment, the sky was dark and the earth was dark, the thunder rolled, the mountains collapsed and the earth was broken, and the air was empty. However, when we saw the steep peak in front of the mountain, we immediately toppled over, and a towering dam was erected like lightning, blocking the way of the waterwheel. Suddenly, the clear water of the lake appeared in front of my eyes. It turns out that the God's compassion and fraternity finally moved the emperor. The emperor realized his previous mistakes and felt the true feelings of the villagers, so he applied magic to retain the God and gave his official residence to the bottom of the lake, so that the clear water of the lake continued to nourish the people here. In order to commemorate Shilang God, the people built Shilang temple in the Lakeside Village instead of the original mountain temple. They sacrificed all the year round and named the lake after him to express their gratitude to him.

Shilang Lake in Binxian county is named after Yan Ben, the Shilang of the household department in Chenghua period of Ming Dynasty, who was born in Niubei village by the lake. In fact, the existence of Shilang lake was much earlier than that of Yan Ben. Since ancient times, there have been legends about Xiaolongnv herding sheep by the lake, Liu Yi saving Longnv by sending a letter, and Wu Zixu saving the people by cutting the Dragon King in Jinghe. Wu Zixu: in the spring and Autumn period, a man of the state of Chu was granted the title of the God of Silang water after his death. Shilang lake was a pool of clear water granted to him by the Jade Emperor, so it was also called "Silang Lake". Later, he gave the lake to the suffering little dragon girl as a dressing mirror. Whether these stories are true or not, the mystery of Shilang lake has attracted many explorers.

Three years of investment in infrastructure construction, all put into use

Shilang Lake scenic spot is the first PPP project in Binxian County, which is cooperated by Shaanxi Binchang Coal Industry Co., Ltd. and Binxian people's Government under the call of Binxian county Party committee and county government to actively develop mixed ownership economy. Shilang Lake scenic spot is a natural eco-tourism scenic spot integrating catering and accommodation, sightseeing, fishing, leisure and entertainment, health and recuperation, education and training, outward bound training and adventure.

After three years of investment and construction, the scenic area has begun to take shape, with large restaurants, snack street, villas, hotels, tourist service center, children's playground, water recreation projects, safety monitoring and other infrastructure all put into use, greatly improving the reception capacity, and realizing the standardization of management and service.

Shilang Lake scenic area has invested a lot of money to build two projects - large light and shadow water live music stage and glass suspension bridge. The launch of these two projects will greatly enhance the tourism taste and cultural connotation of the scenic area, and will also become a beautiful scenic line on Binxian boutique two-day tour line.
