Historical records
According to the records of Qiongdong county annals, jukuita was built by Lu Zhang, the magistrate of Qiongdong County in the 21st year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty. It is said that one night during the construction of the pagoda, Lu Zhang saw in his dream a man named Xiao Huo, wearing a green dress, standing on the top of the pagoda and chanting, "kuitachi is the first in the sky.". Therefore, the tower was named "jukuita". Jukui pagoda is nearly 30 meters high, with a total of 7 floors. With each rise, the height and width of the pagoda are correspondingly reduced. The body of the pagoda is hollow, with a tower base at the bottom and walls around it. The main gate faces north, and a stone plaque on the top of the lintel reads "Jukui pagoda". The tower body imitates the architecture of Tang Dynasty, and its shape is simple and unique.
