Crested Ibis Nature Reserve
Crested Ibis National Nature Reserve is located in Hanzhong area on the Bank of Han River in Shaanxi Province of China, spanning Yangxian county and Chenggu County. Established in 1983, it is a wildlife nature reserve with a total area of 37549 hectares. The main protected objects are endangered rare birds and their habitats. In 1988, the Ministry of forestry of the Chinese government and the Department of environment of the Japanese government signed the cooperation project of "Sino Japanese joint protection research and its habitat". In 2001, the people's Government of Shaanxi Province approved the establishment of the reserve. In July 2005, the State Council Office approved the establishment of Hanzhong Crested Ibis National Nature Reserve.

The nature reserve is a transition zone from mountainous area to low mountain and hilly area, with gentle slope and wide valley, vertical and horizontal streams at the bottom of the valley, and paddy fields on both sides of the valley. The annual average temperature of the climate is 14.5 ℃, the average temperature of the coldest month is 2.1 ℃, and the extreme low temperature is - 9.7 ℃; the annual precipitation is 800mm, and the precipitation from July to September accounts for 50% of the annual precipitation; the frost free period is 240 days.
plant resources
Most of the reserves are covered by forests. The top vegetation is deciduous evergreen broad-leaved mixed forest in North subtropics. Due to the frequent human activities, most of them are secondary shrubs. There are only small gully or ridge, and massive oak forest or arbor forest. The main tree species are Quercus acutissima, Quercus variabilis, Castanea mollissima, Cyclobalanopsis glauca, poplar, willow, Carya cathayensis, Acer negundo, Fraxinus mandshurica, etc. Shrubs are Dendrocalamus, Rosa rubra, Zanthoxylum bungeanum, and vines are Actinidia, Celastrus orbiculatus, etc.
Animal resources
In the world's birds, is one of the most rare and endangered species. It was named "international protected birds" at the 12th International Conference on bird protection held in 1960. In May 1981, it was found in Yangxian County, the south slope of Qinling Mountains, Shaanxi Province, China. At that time, there were only seven. It was named "Qinling No.1 group". This is the first wild population in China since 1964. Then the work of protection and rescue was carried out. According to the statistics in 2018, the total number of wild animals is about 2000. It has been living on the earth for 60 million years. As a species, it only took less than a century from prosperity to decline.
There are many reasons for the decline, such as: forest cutting, destruction of wetland environment, shrinking its habitat; the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, reducing the amount of food; human hunting; the threat of natural enemies such as snakes, weasels and raptors.
Animals under first class state protection. It belongs to storiformes. It is also called "Zhu Lu".
Most of its feathers are white, its wings are pink, its head is orange red, its beak is black, slender and curved, and its tip and base are scarlet. A number of feathers in the occipital part of the back neck extend into a spear shape to form a crest. It is a beautiful bird with beautiful body and gorgeous feathers.
Scale species
Crested Ibis nature reserve is located in yaojiagou, jinjiahe and Sanchahe of Hanzhong Yang county. According to the statistics in 1984, there are only 20 in the world. Except for 3 caged in Japan and a few caged in Beijing Zoo, the rest live in Yangxian County, the southern foot of Qinling Mountains, named "Qinling No.1 red crane group".
Nipponia Nippon, also known as Japanese Crested Ibis (general name), red crane, Nipponia Nippon and Japanese Crested Ibis. Historically, it was widely distributed in eastern Asia, with the northernmost being northern Siberia (50 ° 30 ′ n) and the southernmost being Eastern Taiwan (20 ° 30 ′ n). In the 1970s, there were no wild animals reported in Siberia and the Korean Peninsula. Crested Ibis is regarded as an auspicious bird. It is 80 cm long and weighs about 1800 grams. The whole body is white, two wings and abdomen and tail render a beautiful red color. The mouth is about 17 cm long, the tip is slightly bent downward, the face is naked and red, there are dozens of willow leaf like feathers extending from the pillow to form a crest, and the legs and claws are also scarlet. They like to live in shallow streams and paddy fields to forage for aquatic insects and fly in groups.
Crested Ibis, with its unique feather color, elegant posture and light dancing posture, has been sung by poets of all ages. There have long been beautiful verses such as "because of the wind playing with jade water, the sun shining on the golden dike", "Crested Ibis playing with new algae, wandering in the stream".
