Xuwen Dengyun tower
Dengyun tower is one of the eight sceneries in Xuwen, which is also one of the largest ancient buildings in Xuwen.
Dengyun tower is located at the intersection of dongfangyi road and Minzhu Road, Xucheng Town, Xuwen County, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. Zhao Yihe, the magistrate of Xuwen County, settled the foundation in 1615, and yingshiyu, the magistrate of Xuwen County, was completed in 1623. The ancients referred to Dengyun pagoda as "writing style", which expressed Xuwen people's desire for talents.
history
It is clearly recorded in Xuwen County annals that the Dengyun tower was built in 1615 A.D., when Zhao Yihe, the magistrate of Xuwen County, set the foundation. In 1623, the magistrate yingshiyu was completed. As for the origin of the name of the "Dengyun tower", there has always been a consensus in the local cultural circles. It is generally interpreted as "writing style", which expresses Xuwen people's desire for talents. Obviously, there has been no detailed description of the construction, supervision and other people, as well as the cost and scale of the tower construction project.
It is the most detailed description of the origin of Dengyun Pagoda in the collection of local history of Xuwen: to the north of the pagoda, there is a hotel named Dengyun Pavilion, which is two stories high, with 12 rooms on each floor, all made of wood frames. There are five pagodas in the south of the pagoda group. The middle one is 3.6 meters high, with the top of golden dragon playing with pearls. Each of the four corners is 3 meters high. At the end of each tower is equipped with a dragon, which is made of mud bricks. The pavilion and pagodas were built in the Yuan Dynasty and were abandoned when the Dengyun pagoda was laid in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty.
According to the Xuwen County annals written by Wang Fuzhi in the third year of Xuantong, the magistrate of the late Qing Dynasty, the Dengyun tower was founded in the 43rd year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, when Zhao Yihe was the magistrate. At that time, the land was barren, the people were poor, the local finance was difficult, and the construction of the tower was stopped. In the 48th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1600 AD), Xu Tingjian, the magistrate, took over the post, that is to say, he ordered the whole world to pay more, so the construction of the tower was started. The tower foundation is 6.4 meters deep and 18.4 meters in diameter. It is divided into three layers, the middle layer is 14 meters, the third layer is 11.8 meters, and the layers shrink upward. The tower foundation is built with hook stone (i.e. manually chiseled hook stone). The tower is 36.4 meters high, the wall is 2.6 meters thick, and the empty diameter is 3.6 meters. The whole tower has 199 steps. The top layer is supported by a wood with flower edges, and the end is covered by an iron pot. The tower base faces east in the west, and each floor is constructed with false mouth mud brick structure. Wang Lian, the chief supervisor of the construction, employed 241 people at most and 85 people at least. He spent 281.03 million yuan to complete the project in 1623. On August 4, the fourth year of apocalypse, the magistrate Ying Shiyu held a meeting to inscribe the pagoda. Thirty one people attended the meeting, but none of them spoke. According to Shiyu's suggestion, there is a Dengyun Pavilion beside the tower. Is the word "Dengyun" moved? Everyone agrees. In the fifth year of the apocalypse, the stele was carved for the Dengyun tower. This is the origin of the name of Dengyun tower.
Architectural features
Dengyun tower, commonly known as "wind tower", is an octagonal seven storey brick room tower with a height of 36.41 meters. To the east of the gate, there is a stone plaque on the front of the gate, engraved with three characters of "Dengyun tower", which is inscribed with the inscription "on the auspicious day of the third year of the apocalypse, Chicheng should be the world's yuti".
Each layer of the tower body is set with false flat seats, and the eaves are made of tooth bricks and line bricks alternately. The tower wall is folded upward, and there are 190 steps in total, which are picked up against the clock. In the sixth tower room, there is an iron cast basin shaped brake rod column base with an open edge, with a diameter of 1.46 m and a height of 54 cm.
When it was rebuilt in 1991, the inscription was found on the Fupen: "the Lingding bell on the top of Wenta in Xuwen County shared five hundred Liang silver." The pagoda has seven octagons, each of which is equipped with an iron parrot. There is a copper bell on the parrot's beak. When the wind blows slowly, the copper bell rings, which has a special charm.
As the tower is located in the center of the county, climbing to the top can not only overlook the scenery of the whole city, but also overlook the scenery of Qianfan and Qiongdao in the South China Sea on sunny days. Therefore, it is known as one of the eight old sceneries of Xuyang.
Fairy Tales
The ancient pagoda architecture is unique, magnificent and popular with wonderful myths. It is said that in ancient times, an immortal came down from the sky and found that Xuwen was located at the Cape of the sea, and the cultural atmosphere was not strong. He decided to build a tower to cultivate Fengshui. He originally wanted to build a new base and finish it later. But the God of the earth fought with him and pretended to crow before the second watch. After hearing this, the immortal thought that the day was about to dawn, so he hastily finished the work. As a result, the tower was only seven stories long, and the top two pots were covered It's over. Three days later, Baoguo soared, one fell to Shiling and turned into Shiling pond, the other fell to Liumei stream and turned into Xiangshui pool.
present situation
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Dengyun tower was properly protected and maintained. In March 1983, it was announced as a cultural relic protection unit at the county level. In August 1989, the county government allocated funds to repair it, making the ancient pagoda more than 300 years old take on a new look.
In recent years, Wenta street has been renovated and renovated. Taking the tower as the center, the circular square has been built. The top of the new high-rise building is decorated with blue glazed tiles. Under the sunshine, the blue light is flashing and antique. This is really the new glory of the ancient pagoda of Dengyun, the change of Xuwen's appearance from day to month, and the appearance of the coastal green city in southern Xinjiang.
