According to the records of Liuhe County annals, "in Xiantong of Tang Dynasty, Shenjian Zen master received the Dharma from the fourth ancestor, and there was a saying that he would stop when he met the rock, so he built a Taoist temple under the rock, which was called Fayi Zen Academy.". So far, the temple has a history of more than 1140 years since the Tang Dynasty. With a long history and once respected as a royal temple, Lingyan temple has always maintained a great influence in the Buddhist circle; many scholars are not reluctant to praise, leaving many poems.

Until May 2002, the original Liuhe County was removed from the county and built into a district.
