Da Sheng Temple Pagoda
Dasheng temple tower is located in Xinfeng County. Built in the Northern Song Dynasty, it is a nine level pavilion type brick Pagoda with a hexagonal plane. The pagoda of the great sage temple has nine floors and eighteen levels. After being rebuilt, it is 66.45 meters high. It is known in history as "the top of the sky, incomparable in the province". It is the highest existing song Pagoda in the south of the Yangtze River, and can be called "the first Pagoda in the south of the Yangtze River"“

In the process of maintenance, copper coins of various dynasties were found inside the tower, including Kaiyuan, Taiping, Chunhua, Xianping, Jingde, Tianxi, Yuanfeng, etc., and an inscription brick was found on the left side of the false pot door on the north side of the seventh floor, engraved with the words "the first month of the first year of Zhiping (1064 AD)".
This year is 23 years earlier than November of Yuanyou year (1087 A.D.).
According to the date, the pagoda has a long history of 948 years.
Introduction
Dasheng temple tower is a nine level six side pavilion type brick tower with a flat base through the wall. The tower has 17 floors, including light and dark floors.
Each level is equipped with a flat seat, eaves, corridors, railings, brick stacked out eaves, under the eaves is a brick forehead square, and each floor has three true and false doors.
Each corner of the tower is octagonal.
There are caisson and painted inside the tower. The top of the tower is square, and the tower brake is composed of covered basin, phase wheel and pearl.
The tower covers an area of 90 square meters. In 1953 and 1954, the State Administration of cultural relics visited the county twice. For the first time, it took down a wooden statue and several copper coins, one for "Kaiyuan" and the other for "Grand View".
The second time I found a wooden statue with inscriptions on it. It said that "Zhu ye and his wife came to the Dasheng temple to support themselves on the tower. The inscription was dated November x, the year of Yichou". The handwriting is vigorous and looks like the handwriting of the Song Dynasty. It got its name from the inscription "Dasheng Temple" on the wooden statue found on the tower.
According to legend, the pagoda was built in the year of chiwu (238 A.D.).
According to Ganzhou Prefecture annals, pagoda temple is located in Jiaofang in the north of the county, which is called Daxiong hall. The pagoda in the hall was built in the year of chiwu, the great emperor of Wu.
The pagoda was rebuilt in 627 A.D. and destroyed in the late Tang Dynasty. In 1064 A.D., the county people rebuilt the pagoda on the original site.
For more than a thousand years, though eroded by wind and rain and gone through vicissitudes, the ancient appearance is still pale and towering, showing itself before the eyes of the world.
It is the highest song tower in the south of the Yangtze River.
Historical records
According to the county annals, Zou Pusheng, the Grand Master of the Tianwan regime of the red scarf army in the late Yuan Dynasty, once lived here, and the tower was also built at this time.
It was rebuilt in 1872.
The pagoda is built of brick and imitated wood structure. It is east-west, with a plane of 13 stories and a height of nearly 40 meters. It is gradually decreasing from bottom to top. The bucket arches, eaves corners, bars, doors and windows, and shrines of each story are assembled with special bricks. The mortise and tenon are connected and closely jointed. All the decorative patterns of lotus petals, peonies, and double coins are exquisite and exquisite, and the layout is good.
The proportion of the whole body is balanced, the score is round, the shape is strong, and the momentum is dignified. It has the architectural style of Song Dynasty.
