Temple History
In 1945, when the Japanese invaders collapsed and the Soviets entered Dunhua, Zhengjue temple was defeated in Manchukuo. There were many Japanese living around. The Russian Orthodox did not understand Buddhism and mistakenly thought that the temple was the place of the Japanese, so they forced into the temple, killed cattle and ate meat, and looted all the clothes, bedding and other materials. The monks were distracted and left one after another. The incense was no longer there and they fell into a low ebb. Later, some of the temples were lent to the school as classrooms, and some of them were left for monks to live in.
Later, due to many reasons, such as waste waiting for prosperity, increasing population and unclear policy, Zhengjue Temple gradually declined. Because of the disrepair of the temple, some buildings collapsed, the number of nearby residents increased, and the incidents of occupying the temple occurred repeatedly. During and after the cultural revolution, there were only five eastern chambers in the temple. Although Dunhua Municipal People's government announced it as a cultural relic protection unit, it was still difficult to resist the impact of housing development. By the 1980s, the original site of Zhengjue temple had disappeared.
