MUZTAG peak
MUZTAG peak, with an altitude of 6973 meters, is located at 87.3 degrees east longitude and 36.4 degrees north latitude. It is located at the southwest corner of Altun Nature Reserve in Ruoqiang County, southern Xinjiang and the junction of Tibet. It is the highest peak in the East Kunlun Mountains.
position
"MUZTAG" means "iceberg" in Uighur. This peak becomes "wulage peak", which means "great". In its area of 200 kilometers square kilometers, there are 54 peaks with an altitude of more than 6000 meters, and the main peak is MUZTAG peak. It's like the jade pillar of Optimus.
climb
The peak of Ulugh muztagh stands upright, its rock wall is transverse, and it is covered with ice and snow all the year round. The northwest slope is gentle and long, with many dark ice cracks; the south slope has a 45 degree slope, which goes up the Linglong River, passing through three glaciers and snow basins.
There are two routes on the southeast slope and northeast slope, both of which need to pass through 5823 highland to reach the peak. Although the slope is about 60 degrees, as long as you avoid the cliff and climb on the bare rock slope, you can climb the top and return on the same day.
climate
The modern glaciers in this peak area are well developed and the types of glaciers are quite complete. There are 93 large and small glaciers with a total area of 1200 square kilometers. The largest ice Linchuan is 8 kilometers long and 300 meters thick. Huge glacial solid reservoirs provide abundant water for rivers. The largest Cheerchen River in Xinjiang originates from the northwest ice slope of MUZTAG peak. The activity of glaciers is very strong, ice and avalanches are frequent, and they often make terrible popping sound.
The climate in this area is the most unpredictable. Due to the influence of monsoon and westerly belt, the wind sometimes reaches about 12 degrees, and the temperature can reach below - 30 degrees at the coldest time. The best season for mountaineering should be from June to August, with July as the best, when the period of good weather is longer.
Due to the special geographical location and poor natural conditions of this area, the traffic within a radius of hundreds of kilometers is very closed, so the human trail is rare, and it has been in a primitive and mysterious state. Because of this, the ice peaks, snow fields, grasslands and lakes here not only form a unique natural scenery, but also form a complete and typical primitive ecosystem and biological community There are still ten kinds of precious animals in the forest,
achievement
With the approval of the State Council, the largest Altun Mountain Nature Reserve in China was established in 1983, covering an area of 4500 square kilometers. It has always been a place for explorers, mountaineers and scholars at home and abroad. As early as the late 19th century, the Russians had made explorations here, and later some people carried out activities in this area. In 1984, the Chinese scientific investigation team visited the region twice. In 1985, China and the United States formed a joint mountaineering team. Five Chinese members (Hu Fengling, mamudi, Wu Qianxing, Zhang Baohua and Arda) climbed the western slope to the summit for the first time.
