Yuquan nunnery
Yuquan nunnery was built in September 1862. At ordinary times, good men and women often come to this nunnery to burn incense and worship Buddha, and many people visit the temple. Every April 8th, 18th and 28th, there are thousands of pilgrims from morning to night.
Yuquan nunnery was originally named Yuquan temple, because there is a clear spring on the side of Xiaonan river at the south end of the temple, and the temple is built beside the spring, so it is named. The former site is in Jiutai meat factory. It was built in September 1862. In 1934, three nuns were released from prison. At that time, Zhang's rich man gave alms to restore the temple. In the same year, Sheng accepted apprentices for Shifu (Jiekong), and 12 nuns, such as Shi and naoran, entered the temple and became brothers with Sheng. Liao Sheng and other three nuns went to the nearby Huguo Temple (in the old health team hospital) to practice, and Yuquan temple was changed into Yuquan nunnery. This nunnery has a stone based brick wall, 2 meters high. The building in the courtyard is of brick and tile structure, with 5 main halls in the front and back as the main body. A plaque engraved with "Da Xiong Bao Dian" is hung in the middle of the front hall gate, and a vertical plaque is hung on the columns on both sides of the door, on which a couplet is engraved: "no one can see the Buddha without me, flying in the sky and flying in color.". In the center of the hall is a bronze statue of Sakyamuni. The back hall is the Niangniang hall, with three symmetrical side halls on both sides, the Daxian hall in the West and the Zhang family temple in the East. In the spring of 1949, Yuquan nunnery was destroyed. In 1950, nuns left one after another. Later, the nunnery was converted into a meat factory. In 1954, after the promulgation of the first constitution of our country, the county Party committee, the county people's Committee, the United Front Work Department and the then prison yuan Shikong negotiated to exchange the "xiziju" place (in the south of today's Gongnong Primary School Road) which was recovered by the government, and actively helped to build the Buddhist temple and purchase the ritual instruments. At that time, more than 10 nuns returned to the nunnery to recite Buddhist scriptures. In 1986, Yuquan nunnery was rebuilt and expanded with the support of the county government. Now there are "Da Xiong Bao Dian", "Tian Wang Dian" and "Cang Jing Lou" in the nunnery. There are 15 nuns who preside over Shi Donghui. At ordinary times, good men and women often come to this nunnery to burn incense and worship Buddha, and many people visit the temple. Every April 8th, 18th and 28th, there are thousands of pilgrims from morning to night.
