Xi'an Conservatory of music (Xi'an Conservatory of music for short) is located in Xi'an, the ancient capital of the world's historical city. The school was founded in October 1949, the same age as the Republic. Its predecessor was the Music Department of Northwest military and Political University, which was established by Marshal he long in the Shanxi Suiyuan border region.

In 1950, it was renamed "Northwest Art Institute".

In 1953, it was changed to "Northwest Art College".

In 1956, the music and fine arts departments of the school were established respectively, and the music department was transformed into "Xi'an music college".

In 1957, the College moved to the current site of Chang'an Middle Road, Yanta District, southern suburb of Xi'an.

In 1960, it was officially named Xi'an Conservatory of music. Before the reform and opening up, it was renamed Shaanxi Academy of art.

In 1980, with the spring breeze of reform and opening up, with the approval of the State Council, Xi'an Conservatory of music was restored.

In 1986, it was approved by the Ministry of education as a national master's degree authorization unit, and in 1987, it recruited master's degree students for the first time.

In January 2009, the general Party branch for graduate students was established.
