Phoenix House
The Phoenix Tower is built on a 4-meter-high blue brick platform with a three drop water mountain enclosure, with yellow glazed tiles on the top and green trimming. This building is the highest building in Shengjing, so it is known as "Fenglou xiaori" and "Fenglou guanta", one of the eight sceneries of Shengjing. There is a plaque with the title of "Ziqi Donglai" written by Emperor Qianlong on the Phoenix Tower.
In the Shenyang Palace Museum, all the palaces are built on a three meter high platform surrounded by walls and patrol roads, just like a closed castle. This is in line with the traditional living habits of Manchu ancestors, who lived in mountainous areas for a long time. From the end of Ming Dynasty, Nurhachi started to fight in Jianzhou garrison. No matter in Jianzhou old camp, hetuala, Jiefan mountain city, saerhu mountain city, or Liaoyang Tokyo City, he built the "Palace" in the living area on the mountain or on the hillside. On the other hand, it's easy to watch the enemy's situation at a high place, always alert to the enemy and protect their own safety. Shenyang is located in the plain, but the builders still use artificial stacking platform, and then build a palace on the platform. Phoenix Tower, the gateway of the Imperial Palace, is a three story pavilion with three drops of water and a mountain. It is also a typical tower on the stage and the commanding height of the whole imperial palace. The upper beam frame is decorated with red gold dragon painting. The flowers in the middle room are Sanskrit, Phoenix and seal script, and the emperor and empress often read or have a rest here. The lower level is the inner palace gate, which is the access to the palace area. There are dozens of steps leading to the stage. You can have a panoramic view of the whole Shengjing city when you climb the Phoenix Tower.
