Yanping building is located in hedai village, Qitang village committee, Baihe Town, Kaiping City, Guangdong Province. The building faces south from the north. It is five stories high and covers an area of 120 square meters. Huang zhanchun, the owner of Yanping building, was born in 1880 and died in 1942. He was the direct grandson of Huang Shenggui, a Gongsheng in the Qing Dynasty. In 1894, he was ordered by his father to study abroad. Four years later, he went home to get married. Three years later, he moved to Canada with his wife and concubine. In 1922, his family returned home. In 1923, Huang zhanchun built Yanping building to prevent bandits, which cost 30000 pairs of silver. As the tallest building in the area, it is said to be level with the flying geese in the sky, so it is called "Yanping building".
