Kowloon Bay
Kowloon Bay originally refers to the bay of the Kowloon Peninsula in Hong Kong. It generally refers to the sea area between Hung Hom and Kwun Tong. It is a part of Victoria Harbour. After the construction of Kai Tak Airport by large-scale reclamation, the area of the Bay has been greatly reduced. At present, it usually refers to the area to the east of the original Bay, south of Ngau Chi Wan and west of Ngau Tau Kok, mainly for residential, industrial and commercial land.
geographical position
The area of Kowloon Bay is next to Ngau Tau Kok, from Kowloon Bay station of MTR to Ngau Tau Kok Station to the seaside. It can also be called Kowloon Bay. Facilities such as the runway and apron of the old Kai Tak Airport to the west of the area are also obtained from the Bay reclamation of Kowloon Bay.
survey
In the past, because it was adjacent to the old Kai Tak Airport, there were a large number of logistics company warehouses here. However, after the airport was closed, logistics, warehouse and other industries also moved to Kwai Chung and other areas.
The Kowloon Bay MTR station and the MTR depot are located under the Tak Fook garden to provide a place for train cleaning, testing and maintenance. Next to the station is the headquarters building of MTR.
Some government offices, including the electrical and Mechanical Services Department, the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force and the post office, will move to Kowloon Bay in 2013. There are also public facilities such as Kowloon Bay sports ground, park and gymnasium nearby.
Before the opening of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, the Hong Kong International Trade Exhibition Centre in Kowloon Bay was Hong Kong's major international fair. At present, the international exhibition and Trade Center continues to hold different international exhibitions and concerts from time to time.
In 2007, megabox (enterprise Plaza Phase 5) opened, which changed the impression of Jiulongwan as a factory and logistics warehouse. Megabox covers an area of 1.1 million square feet. It is the largest shopping mall in Kwun Tong District, with IKEA furniture, yoshihima, IMAX cinema, etc. Since 2006, more and more office buildings have been built in the area, including the third phase of enterprise Plaza, international trading center, Manhattan place and Yijing center, etc., to become the new business center of East Kowloon.
There are also some residential areas in Kowloon Bay. There are two private housing estates, namely, Telford garden and Regent garden.
