Jian'ou Museum

Jian'ou museum is located in cangchang Road, Chengguan, in the former Confucius Temple of Jianning mansion. It is the first comprehensive state-owned Museum created by using ancient buildings in Northern Fujian. The building in the museum consists of a closed ancient building community, which is composed of Zhaoqiang, lingxingmen, banyuechi, QianDian, cloister, Dacheng hall and cultural relics exhibition hall. In the museum, there are three departments, namely Archaeology Department, exhibition department, safekeeping department and publicity department. There are thousands of historical relics from the late Neolithic period to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It can be divided into ten categories: bronze, ceramics, wood carving, gold and jade, calligraphy and painting, stone carving, coins, miscellaneous pieces, small pieces and stone tools. Most of these relics are unearthed from local scientific excavation and folk collection. They not only directly reflect the long and splendid local history and culture, but also play an irreplaceable role in the research of historical science in the province and even the whole country. For example, the Yongzhong of the Western Zhou Dynasty, a first-class cultural relic collected in the museum, is unique to the province, which is nearly 3000 years ago. Another group of first-class cultural relic, the copper braided ou, is also unique to the museum.

The buildings in the museum are composed of Zhaoqiang, lingxingmen, banyuechi, Jimen, Liangwei, Dacheng hall and cultural relics exhibition hall, covering an area of 4800 square meters and a construction area of 2928 square meters.

Collection

There are thousands of historical relics from the late Neolithic period to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. For a long time, the museum adheres to the display of local general history and holds temporary exhibitions of various flowers, bonsai, root carving, calligraphy and painting, and lantern.

Organization setup

There are three departments of archaeology, exhibition, storage and publicity, which are responsible for the collection, publicity and education, scientific research of cultural relics specimens and the cultural relics administration of the national, provincial and municipal cultural relics protection units under the jurisdiction of our city.

At present, the library has one associate researcher, one librarian, two assistant librarians and two administrators. It publishes more than three research papers on average every year. Zhang Jia, the representative, is an associate researcher and a biographer of the Journal of Chinese Contemporary Cultural Museum in 2007. His monographs "Northern Fujian ceramics" (co authored), "ancient city search", "Jian'ou kiln" (co authored with Xu Bing), "Jian'ou cultural relics" and so on, have made positive contributions to the study of local history.

Honors

In the autumn of 2005, the museum has been assessed as a provincial-level second-class Museum. Now it is a patriotic education base listed by Nanping Municipal government and a key cultural relic protection unit in Fujian Province.
