Henggang mountain forest park is located in Qichun County, Huanggang City, Hubei Province. It is a provincial forest park approved by the State Forestry and grassland Bureau in 1992. It is managed by the forestry bureau of Qichun county. The park is composed of the edge zones of Qichun, Wuxue and Huangmei counties, covering an area of 7.24 square kilometers. The forest area accounts for more than 90% and the forest coverage rate is 58.1%. The highest altitude of 863.5 meters, the territory of beautiful natural scenery, towering ancient trees, rich in animal and plant resources.

History and Humanities

As early as 1300 years ago, Henggang mountain was the main place for the activities of Taoism and Buddhism in the areas of Jing, Wu and Yu, with large-scale temples. Zhenwu hall is majestic and magnificent, belonging to the Wudang Mountain sect of Taoism, which was founded in 621 ad in the late Sui and early Tang Dynasties. Yungai Temple "tiangai Yunlai yungai Temple", belonging to the Jiuhua Mountain sect of Buddhism, was founded in 753 ad in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. At present, there are nearly 30 large and small temples.

Henggang mountain has been a famous Buddhist and Taoist tourist attraction since ancient times. It is a natural summer resort. There are ancient temples built in the Sui and Tang Dynasties in the park. It has a history of more than 1500 years. Scholars and eminent monks of all ages have traveled in Henggang mountain and left their handwriting. There are also historical records, such as Xu Xiake, Li Bai, Du Fu, etc Zu Daoxin became a monk here when he was young. There are special records in the annals of yungai temple in Henggang mountain. Yuchi Gong, the founding General of the Tang Dynasty, visited here and left poems and inscriptions. Wu Chengen, the author of journey to the west, wrote books on the mountain and Li Shizhen collected herbs on the mountain.

Park Construction

Since 2008, with the strong support of the forestry authorities of Hubei Province and Huanggang City, and under the correct leadership of the Party committee and government of Qichun County, the forestry bureau of Qichun county has invested more than 800000 yuan in 2003 to build 4 km of yuanpanshan earth road; in 2008, it invested more than 1.4 million yuan to harden 4 km of yuanpanshan road. On this basis, in order to further improve the tourism quality of the forest park and cooperate with the connection of the red tourism highway in Huanggang City, in 2014, the investment was nearly 600000 yuan to rebuild the gate building of Henggang mountain forest park. The newly-built gate tower stands against the mountain and stands at the entrance of the park. There are more than 3000 precious trees and shrubs, such as cherry blossom, crape myrtle, Photinia rubra, pomegranate, Osmanthus fragrans, rose, Alnus cremastogyne, Prunus mume, Rhododendron, and so on, which add greening and beautifying scenery to the forest park.

Development and utilization

"Planning first, planning as the key link". The county employs top domestic tourism creative agencies to plan and design key scenic spots such as Chixi lake, pingfengzhai, Yundan mountain and Xianren lake, so as to expand the connotation of tourism culture and enhance the grade and taste of scenic spots. We will accelerate the construction of Longquan Huahai tourist area, Sanjiang Resort and Henggang mountain ecological park, promote Li Shizhen medical road cultural tourist area, strive to become a 4A scenic area, and build new cultural towns such as Shizhen industrial society, Tongzi hot spring town and Chidong health preservation town.

Li Shizhen's medical culture, egrenggu, Sanjiang and henggangshan scenic spots were organized to participate in the 7th central China Tourism Expo, and the "100 yuan one-day tour to Qichun" activity was carried out, which promoted the tourism popularity of Qichun. At the same time, huaishushan village and Lishan village were actively declared to create provincial famous tourism villages, agricultural related funds were integrated, farmers around the scenic spots were supported to develop farmhouse entertainment, and 74 households were newly developed, which promoted the development of rural tourism.

Now, under the correct leadership of forestry authorities at all levels, Qichun county Party committee and county government, the park continuously strengthens the infrastructure construction on the premise of not damaging historical relics and paying attention to ecological construction. It has built 5 hotels, more than 30 leisure restaurants such as farmhouse, etc. the park's tourism reception capacity is continuously strengthened, and the number of scenic spots is increasing. It has become a Buddhist road in Hubei, Anhui and Jiangxi provinces In recent three years, the average annual passenger flow has reached 250000 person times, and there is a growing trend.
