Taibao Temple
The Taibao temple is dedicated to Chen Gong Ye
Taibao temple is located at the foot of Laohushan, hanguan village, Guizi Town, Xinyi City, Guangdong Province. It is a temple dedicated by Chen Yu to Chen Yu, the crown prince of Ming Dynasty. It was built in 1884 in the 10th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty. It is of brick and wood structure from the northeast to the southwest. It has a two-way structure. The first seat is a chapel with two side rooms on the left and right. The ridge of the roof is decorated with the patterns of Erlong Xizhu and figures, flowers and plants.
The temple site is now the campus of hanguan primary school. The temple and the statue of Taibao have been demolished. Only one jade censer is left, which was moved under the ancient banyan tree at the west gate of hanguan fort. The surface of the censer is 30cm in diameter and 35cm in height. The two sides of the censer are carved with pearly taps. There are inscriptions on the stove, with "Prince Dabao" in the middle, "auspicious day in the middle of winter in the 10th year of Guangxu" on the top right, and "muen Zhongyuan xinjingfeng" on the bottom left.
After Chen Yu calmed down the Yao rebellion in his hometown, the masses came far and near to reclaim wasteland in his hometown, and many Han people in Fujian Province also settled down here. They absorbed the advantages of each other's production technology, improved farming methods, and made great progress in agriculture. In this regard, the nostalgic people are deeply moved by Chen's achievements. They set up a "Taibao Temple" in Pingmei, Huaixiang street, to commemorate him with statues and deify him. It was not until the 1950s that it was destroyed by superstitious idols. In 1995, Maoming Tourism Bureau approved the opening of "Taibao Temple" as a tourist spot of cultural relics and historic sites. The temple was rebuilt in February 1999 and is still preserved. Chen Yu is regarded as an idol by the masses, and many good men and women come to worship him every day.
