Peiliao old street

Jiepiliao old street is located in today's Wanhua District, surrounded by Guangzhou Street, Kangding Road and Kunming Street. The street house on the north side of the old street is only a wall away from the campus of old songguo primary school, while the street house on the south side is close to Guangzhou street.

There are quite complete street types of Qing Dynasty, traditional shops and houses of Qing Dynasty, corrected facades of urban area in Japanese rule era and reconstructed appearance after restoration in jiepiliao historic district. Its architectural space has witnessed the development of Kaishi street, which is of great significance for the continuation of urban texture.

As the only street left by Han people in the Qing Dynasty in the area, the popular Taiwanese film "kawaka" shows that the places where the gangsters like Zhao Youting and Ruan Jingtian are popular are shooting in the old street of jiepiliao.

Peiliao old street

Bopiliao is the place name of Taipei City in Taiwan. It is located in the south of laosongguo primary school. It is surrounded by Guangzhou Street, Kangding Road and Kunming Street in Wanhua District.

The origin of the name

The name of "Pei Liao" began in the post-war period, and the origin of the place name "Pei Liao" is controversial. According to the "Taipei City annals", there are two sources: "Pei Liao street, also known as Pei Liao street, behind Pei Liao there is a pool, which is supposed to be the place for killing animals and making leather. The finished products are nothing more than leather boxes, pillows and drums." It is named after skinning animals.

However, according to the local elders, the name of jiepiliao was derived from the fact that the Chinese fir was transported into Fuzhou by merchant ships during the Qing Dynasty and the bark was stripped here.

Old Street

At that time, it was a commercial street with many exquisite foreign houses. The street was formed in the Qing Dynasty of 1850's in Taiwan. However, during the Japanese occupation period, the narrow and curved roads were widened and straightened by the "urban correction". Since the Qing Dynasty, it still retains the space and characteristics of the initial development Urban texture. In addition to the historical background, the street also served as the starting point for Tang Jingsong's advocacy of Taiwan Democracy and the launching of the Taiwan gentry parade.

Because the street, which is about several hundred meters long, was listed as the school site of Laosong elementary school from the late period of Japanese occupation to 1945, and could not be rebuilt, the unique building mixed with Minnan style and Western baroque style was completely preserved. The Taipei local education center was established in August 2003 by the Education Bureau of the Taipei municipal government to conserve and reuse the Peiliao historic site. In 2004, the eastern part of the street was renovated into a historical street area, while the western part adjacent to the national primary school was renovated in 2009.

Kawakami (film)

The old street of "jiepiliao" is located in lane 173, Kangding Road. Because of the movie's success, many fans, especially teenagers, have come here for a pilgrimage, and tourists have soared to become one of the most popular scenic spots in Taipei.
