Menglian Xuanfu Department
Menglian Xuanfu office is located in Nayun ancient town, Menglian Dai Lahu Wa Autonomous County, Yunnan Province. This ancient building complex is well preserved and integrates the architectural features of Dai and Han. The rule of Dai hereditary chieftain, which it represents, lasted for more than 500 years from Ming and Qing Dynasties to the Republic of China.
In February 2020, in order to thank the national medical staff for their dedication, from the date of the resumption of business to December 31, 2020, the national medical workers and their two family members visited the scenic spot free of charge.
Meng Liancheng
In 1254, the Mongol army forced the subjects of a local regime, mengmao (today's Ruili) kingdom, to move southward. At that time, the four ministers of the central court divided into three groups to find a new place to live, so they found Menglian, the Pingba River Valley, which means "a good place to find" in Dai language. In the 26th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1289), the military government of Mulian road was set up in Menglian. The first generation chieftain hanbafa built Menglian city. In the fourth year of Yongle (1406) of the Ming Dynasty, Menglian set up the chief secretary. At that time, the chieftain Dao was sent to be the chief secretary. He lived in liupin and had a large area.
Xuanfu Department
In 1709, the Tusi Dao sent Dinggong Xiang to Beijing and was granted the title of Xuanfu. In the 29th year of Qianlong (1764), the imperial court designated Menglian Xuanfu department as "Xuanfu Department of Jingzhi". In the 20th year of Guangxu (1894), it was under the jurisdiction of Zhenbian Zhili Hall (now Lancang). It was awarded the "seal of Menglian Xuanfu Department inherited by Zhenbian Zhili Hall of Yunnan". In the Republic of China, it was called Menglian Xuanfu Department of Lancang County. From the first generation of chieftain hanbafa to the last generation of chieftain daopaihong in 1949, 28 generations of chieftains inherited it. From the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, the chieftain of Dao family built a large-scale "inner city", namely Nayun, at the east foot of Jindong on the West Bank of Nanlei river. According to the old system of Dai people, Shancheng Nayun is strictly divided into Shangcheng, Zhongcheng, Xiacheng and mangfanggang and mangfangmao. Today, there are Xuanfu department in Shangcheng District, Shangcheng Buddhist temple and Zhongcheng Buddhist temple in Zhongcheng district.
On the high ground of Shangcheng District, the temple of Xuanfu department stands in front of us solemnly. Beside the 13 level stone treading road are four tall and thick palm trees, and eight golden gateposts shining in the sun. It reminds me that Xuanfu department is called "he Han" in Dai language, which means "golden palace". Entering the gate, the three eaves Xieshan dry column style conference hall presents in front of us. It is 23.2 meters long, 16.1 meters wide, 10.2 meters high, 7 rooms wide and 5 rooms deep. It is very magnificent. The maroon wood floor on the first floor is very clean, showing the sky outside the eaves, floating like water. There are 47 golden dry columns in 6 rows. Because they are hidden under the eaves, they hide the dazzling light and show the warm color, which is simple and pleasing to the eye. On one side of the hall are several wooden drums of different styles, telling the vivid details of the distant history.
Historical materials of cultural relics
Enter the assembly hall and ascend to the second floor. This is the place where Wang Si discusses affairs. The niche standing at the front of the room is the "throne" of the chieftain. The two gold umbrellas inlaid with gems are particularly attractive. Back then, the chieftains of Dai, Lahu and wa were called here to discuss affairs by the chieftains of Dao's family. The voice of asking and answering seemed to be in my ears. The time has passed for hundreds of years. The light here is dim, especially showing the strictness and antiquity.
After passing through the meeting hall, you will arrive at the back garden, where many kinds of tropical plants and flowers are planted all over the place. Under the sun, the flowers are blooming warmly. Large areas of red Bougainvillea are climbing between the walls, while tree tomatoes are quietly hanging down from the walls, with fiery red and orange fruits, making the gray brown walls bright and fresh. The main hall is connected with the conference hall through a small arch bridge. This hard hilltop building with double eaves on the first floor and one floor is the living room of the chieftain Dao and his husband. The left and right wing rooms are also hard hilltop buildings on the first floor and one floor. They are symmetrical along the corridor and integrated with the main hall. Compared with the assembly hall, the main hall is obviously more gorgeous. Countless gold pillars and the intricate golden arches under the eaves reflect each other. The maroon wooden buildings make the title of "golden palace" worthy of the name. In the glass window of the wing room, there are blue embroidered boa robes and black satin court robes, as well as seals, Dai classics, Tusi household goods, etc., which are of great historical and artistic value and provide precious historical relics for the study of local ethnic history.
On May 25, 2006, Menglian Xuanfu department, as an ancient building of Qing Dynasty, was approved by the State Council to be listed in the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
