Development history

At the Boao summit of World Tourism elites solemnly held at the Boao Forum for Asia in Hainan, Shehong China Jurassic Park was awarded the title of international trump tourist attraction. In 2005, Longfeng gorge was approved to establish provincial and national geoparks, national popular science education base and AAAA scenic spot. On December 18, 2009, the opening ceremony of the monument was held in China Jurassic Park. The 8th International Jurassic Congress in 2010 was solemnly held here. The silicified wood forest covers an area of 9270 square meters, with 140 exhibits. It mainly displays silicified wood fossils excavated in the park and other towns in Shehong. Hundreds of millions of years ago, trees were buried underground due to debris flow, earthquake, volcanic eruption and other reasons. The chemical components around their trunks, such as silicon dioxide, iron oxide and calcium carbonate, entered into the trees under the action of groundwater, replaced the original wood components and retained the shape of trees. After a long period of petrification, silicified wood was formed.

The plants forming silicified wood are mainly gymnosperms and angiosperms, as well as the roots and stems of a small number of ferns. The silicified wood in our park is mainly formed by gymnosperms of pines, cypresses and gingko, but no silicified wood formed by angiosperms has been found. You may wonder why some trees become silicified wood, some become ebony, and some become coal after being buried? Ebony was formed by carbonization of plants and organisms buried in the low-lying part of ancient river bed due to earthquake, flood and debris flow two thousand to ten thousand years ago. Some trees buried in the mud were carbonized for thousands of years or even tens of thousands of years under the condition of anoxia and high pressure, bacteria and other microorganisms. Therefore, it is also called "carbonized wood". Carbonized wood and silicified wood belong to fossil wood Wood fossil is a kind of plant fossil. Coal is a kind of black combustible sedimentary rock formed by the accumulation of plant branches and roots on the ground for millions of years. Due to the change of the earth's crust, it is constantly buried underground, isolated from the air for a long time, and under high temperature and pressure, through a series of complex physical and chemical changes and other factors.
