history
This is a sacred mountain worshipped by the primitive Bon religion in Tibet. It is said that ah Qiong Jiebo, a bon believer who first came out to oppose Buddhism, had a magic test with master lianhuasheng. When master lianhuasheng arrived at the junction of the Yarlung Zangbo River and the Niyang River, he used his magic power to mobilize the strong wind and tried to blow down all the villages and trees. Ah Qiong Jiebo saved the disaster by crushing the trees with huge stones. Then they fought in Gulu village at the foot of Biri mountain. Lianhuasheng tried to destroy the Bon religion completely, so he tried to push Biri mountain into Niyang River. He was stopped by ah Qiong Jiebo and failed. Since then, the Bon religion in Gongbu area has been preserved. Up to now, the local people who believe in Bon religion still have big stone worship, bird worship and ladder in this holy mountain (a huge tree standing on the holy mountain, because it is often surrounded by fog, looks like towering into the clouds. It is the universal tree in the legend of Bon religion, with all kinds of prayer flags and offerings hanging on it). Every year during the saga Dawa Festival, bon believers turn around the holy mountain counterclockwise. Ah Qiong Jiebo is regarded as a hero to protect the holy mountain.
