Brief introduction to temples
The geographical environment and founding time of Cihang temple in that year can be summarized from a poem "Cihang Temple far" written by Liu Chunan, a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty. Poetry says:
A hundred feet of vine and a hundred feet of stone are like a boat. After the silence of my ears, I still heard it out,
When the eyesight is poor, he can only distinguish smoke.
I'm afraid the sleeves will fall with the sun,
Climb high and recognize the terrain garden.
Rub the broken tablet to find the remnant seal,
To visit the founding year of the former dynasty.
During the period of the Republic of China, Cihang temple had three front and back halls and three East and West rooms. In the main hall, there is a holy statue of Guanyin, with statues of male and female worshippers standing on both sides in front of the knees. On the left and right of the hall are the standing statues of Manjusri and Puxian. Eighteen Arhats are painted on the wall, and the characters are vivid and lifelike. The East and West rooms are Abbot's room, quiet room and Zen room, and the front hall is the living place for entertaining monks. In the past, Cihang temple was full of incense, and there were many pilgrims burning incense and worshiping Buddha on the 1st and 15th day of the lunar calendar.
After the fall of Northeast China and the Kuomintang's occupation of Benxi, Cihang temple was in disrepair. After the liberation of Benxi in 1948, the government closed and protected Cihang temple. In 1960, under the very difficult conditions of the national economy, the government also allocated funds to rebuild Cihang temple, which made it new. The following year, the people's Committee of Xihu District announced that Cihang temple was a cultural relic protection unit at the district level. In 1964, a painter was invited from Shenyang to paint the statue and wall. The renovated Cihang temple has magnificent gates, bright halls and colorful statues, which give people a sense of mystery. The plaque in the hall is high, and the flowers and plants outside the hall are low, which adds luster to the ancient and modern Benxi scenic spot. In particular, after 1978, the provincial and municipal governments successively allocated 170000 yuan to rebuild Cihang temple, making the ancient temple more new. It was rebuilt twice in the year of "Republic of China" (1912-1946), both of which were funded by the people, and the name of the temple was changed There are only a few resident monks in Cihang temple. History can be examined. There is only one resident monk in each historical stage. After liberation, Cihang temple was listed as a cultural relic. During the cultural revolution, it was destroyed. After smashing the gang of four, it implemented the religious policy and lived with master mori and master Huafeng. In 2003, after the abbot of Xiuzhi led his disciples to settle in the temple, they "painstakingly" got married in many ways, and became friends with the residents and the people's government With the help, Cihang temple was rebuilt.
