Gaisi tomb in Hami, located in the western suburb of Hami City, Xinjiang, is also known as "sage tomb" and "green arch north".
According to legend, during the reign of Tang Zhenguan, at the invitation of Emperor Taizong Li Shimin, the Prophet Muhammad of Islam sent his disciples GAis, wuweisi and wangasi to preach in China. Wan Gasi died in Guangzhou. GAis and wuweisi arrived in Chang'an and were welcomed by Emperor Taizong of Tang Dynasty. On the way back to China, wuweisi died in huihuibao in Hexi, while Gaisi died in XINGXINGXIA in 635 A.D. and was buried. Later, the Hui king of Hami sent people to build a Gongbei mausoleum in XINGXINGXIA.

The local people built houses for the gold, covered their ridges, prayed frequently, and filled their buildings with plaques. There were also those on the tombs of shijinzhuang, who had a constant accumulation of Chi Xu. Later, Gongbei was demolished. In 1939, Muslims in Hami initiated the construction of Gaisi tomb, where Gaisi remains were buried from XINGXINGXIA.
GAis tomb is an Islamic building, about 10 meters high. The lower part is square, the upper part is arched dome, the top is inlaid with green glazed tiles, and there are eaves around. This tomb is small in scale, but it is famous for burying "saints". Many Islamists who can't go to Mecca have come here to worship. The walls of the tomb were covered with brocade tablets presented by the pilgrims, which were stacked on the tomb of "sage".
It is said that the remains of GAis tomb are about six feet long. The skin and flesh are connected between the chest and ribs, and the beard under the chin is still there. GAis tomb is 22 meters long from east to west, 12 meters wide from north to south, and 15 meters high. It has a square base, a round vault, covered with green glazed bricks, surrounded by wooden columns supporting the corridor and four corner cornices. It is a building integrating the architectural styles of Arabic and Han. The cemetery is surrounded by walls, in which all kinds of trees and plants are planted. The environment is particularly elegant and quiet. There are not many remains of Islamic sages in the world in GAis tomb, which is one of the important holy places of Islamic pilgrimage.

GAis tomb covers an area of 8 mu, the whole cemetery is rectangular (narrow and long from north to South), and the rear is the main building of GAis tomb. GAis tomb is 22 meters long from east to west, 12 meters wide from north to south, and 15 meters high. It has a square base and a round vault, which is divided into upper and lower parts. The upper part is an arched dome, covered with green glazed tiles, and the lower part is a square. There are cloisters on the outside, 7 in North and south, 6 in East and West, surrounded by 50 cm high wooden railings. From a distance, it looks like a shining green agate, inlaid in the oasis of Hami. It is a building integrating the architectural styles of Arab and Han nationalities, and one of the important holy places of Islamic pilgrimage. In front of the tomb, there are bungalows in the East for the grave watchers to live in, and a large cemetery for worshippers in the West. The cemetery is surrounded by walls and planted with various trees and plants. The environment is elegant and quiet.
history
It is said that during the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, Muhammad sent GAis, wuweisi and wangasi to China to spread Islam. They came by water. Wangasi died in Guangzhou. Wuweisi and Gaisi arrived in Chang'an and were welcomed by Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty. Later, the two returned home to recover their lives. On the way to the west, wuweisi died in a place outside Jiayuguan (Yumen town). In memory of him, later generations called this place huihuibao. GAis died in Xingxing gorge in Hami in 635. At that time, XINGXINGXIA Bianka brigade built barracks and demolished them. In March 1945, Cai Jianguo and Shu Yichu, the Islamic believers in Hami, were responsible for moving GAis' remains from XINGXINGXIA to the cemetery and building Gongbai mausoleum.
